What's wrong with the discussion forum?

I mean the general discussion forum. Where have all the threads gone??

all the threads are there, the link on the main page doesn't work

if you click on general discussion, then look up at the URL there's a place where it says number=1

change it to number=2 and then they'll show up

link needs to be fixed

I knew it! Someone must not have liked my last post and nuked the whole forum. Whoever ya are, you really went too far this time!

Sigh. All gone. All those great posts, and now they're gone forever. (ok, just a little Sunday afternoon melodrama.)

It's the filtering apparently. If you try to filter it down to the last ten days, or even the last year it chokes. But if you select to show ALL posts, then you get the threads.

Probably the same issue as the search feature which has been choking recently. Maybe the database software can't handle that many threads. Too bad, because in the scheme of things 5800 threads is not all that much. My usenet newsreader has over 100,000 searchable threads on my hard drive.

Yep it works when you choose "show all topics." The Turner Ohvur post has thousands of replies. It's written by a guy called no

The "Turner Ohver" post might be messing things up, or it might just be a symptom.

When you said it had thousands of replies I thought someone played a prank and posted a super long thread that mucked up the system.

But actually it lists as having 2 BILLION replies which is impossible--it would take several lifetimes to post that many replies so it might just be a symptom of something going wrong in the system.

I hope the sosuave administrator is working on this.

No. The Search Function is completely dead if you try searching the “Don Juan Discussion” forum. It works in the other forums.

Yes, everything looks normal aside from a few posts by confirmed AFCs.

Search is working again. When the index file for a particular forum reaches a certain size, the search function stops working in that forum.

I'll try to find a solution for this problem, but right now we'll just have to keep the main DJD forum limited to somewhere around 42 or 43 thousand posts.
