That video proved nothing. It was a poor approach in any year. It's a fair point that she seemed antisocial but there's no reason to ask an antisocial woman for her number.

Asking about something he's not genuinely needing help with as an excuse to even talk to her. This is both a weak and disingenuous way to open a conversation.

Despite her ice cold reaction, he asked for her number straight from the poor opening. Dude is either blind or completely unable to read the most basic of non-verbal cues. Gauging initial reaction is probably the most important part if you're going for cold approaches like this, if it's cold you should just break off immediately, there's no warming up from that.

Looks like this isn't the first time some socially inept dude comes up to her, I can almost hear her thoughts as he goes straight for asking her number after zero rapport "aww, not this sh!t again".

As @SW15 points out, this didn't work any year.
 

What happens, IN HER MIND, is that she comes to see you as WORTHLESS simply because she hasn't had to INVEST anything in you in order to get you or to keep you.

You were an interesting diversion while she had nothing else to do. But now that someone a little more valuable has come along, someone who expects her to treat him very well, she'll have no problem at all dropping you or demoting you to lowly "friendship" status.

If a guy behaves like this it is so weak that it gives men a bad rep due to weak social skills and this guy clearly has no idea wtf he is doing
