I'm not in the mood to get into the whole alpha debate about Trump but I can tell you this much first hand. My daughter and I went to a Trump rally in 2016. We were within 6 x feet of him. The man has a presence like no other. A commanding, dominant, and positive presence like I have seen from no other human being. The positive energy in the room was off the charts. People were mesmerized; men, women, and children. Call it alpha. Call it whatever. But I was there and there was definitely more to it than just a guy talking to a crowd.
A naturally dominant man will exude a commanding presence.

Trump has it.

No one can fake that.

Trump is definatley not an alpha male, he does not have the alpha male looks. However, Trump is a business man.
Dude, lay off the big blockbuster hollywood movies. Napoleon Bonaparte was 5'7". Ghengis Khan appears as a chubby faced, neck bearded, little man in many depictions. I don't know many women, that would consider Adolph Hitler to have possesed "alpha male looks". What do looks have to do with it?

Economic competition is fine.

Stealing IP, or utilizing tax schemes to gain competitive advantage in current account deficit/surplus, or not trading raw materials unless the manufacturing exists in your country are all actions of trade wars.

The above are all examples of China not playing with an equal set of rules.

So why should we?
That's fine, if you like economic policies steeped in far-left socialism. All economies are state-rigged to a degree, but Trump is going full Bernie with his pro-tax, workers-of-the-world-unite silliness. What happens when Carrier's socialist subsidies run out, or tariffs are passed on to consumers who didn't care where their Harleys were built.

Maybe China wasn't playing by our "rules," whatever that means, but the rules of the marketplace are the rules that matter, not Trumpski's radical far-left interference.

Not to get off-topic, I know this is about him being Alpha, not trade.

As for Trump being alpha, it is an oddity of the office of the presidency that its occupant is at once Alpha (head of state) and Beta (begs for approval and votes). Trump begs less than other politicians, but once you run for office you are basically a prostitute.

In what world is Trump a pro-tax Berniebot?

I said nothing about "our rules", i said "equal rules". China created schemes to gain advantage and now we are finally responding.

There is nothing socialist or "creating a trade war" about Trump's actions. He has the brains and the balls to finally deal with a problem that useless politician snakes have been unable to or unwilling to fix in the past.
Whose rules then? And, I agree that he can retaliate in kind if he wants. (Though, whatever happened to Congress and lawmaking is another discussion.)

In the world of open markets, Trump is a pro-tax Bernibot. Tariffs are taxes, plain and simple. Subsidies for jobs are social engineering. Different flavor of the same old government meddling. Wielding government to manipulate otherwise free markets is socialism. Like I said, all governments do it - because none of them produce, they can only take. Trump's just finding a new way of taking and redistributing. The difference will be made up by the consumer, who didn't ask for a price hike in the first place. There was no "problem" other than that government itself - in 2018, that's Trump.

But, I'll leave it at that and you can have the last word my friend...that's just my $.02.

It's even more reassuring to be able to understand why his strategy works.
Yeah, but he seems to lack the most basic of political skills. After his adventures abroad, he comes back to a complete mess in America... having to obfuscate and back-track... and God knows what.

I think the disaster with Putin stemmed from his egoism - all he could see was himself playing to his domestic base, and looking to defend himself on the stage against 'collusion'. He forgot that he was also supposed to be an international statesman representing the general interests of America.:D

What mess and what disaster are you referring to?

As far as I see, the Putin summit was a full success.

Mueller has an invitation to seek justice from the Russian individuals who allegedly "interfered" in an election, and likewise Putin would be able to investigate here in the US.

Working together is a success, not a failure.
Lol, you’re celebrating the destruction of America as a republic. If you love Russias quasi dictatorship so much go move there. Trump wants to be Putin.

Put down the kool aid my friend. The people were mesmerized because they’re part of a cult. He’s a great salesman I’ll give him that. He’s also a disaster. It’s pretty obvious he’s broke and his ties to Russia involve money laundering.

We will just have to agree to disagree. Good day Sir.
Disagree with what? Be specific.

Russian meddling in the election?
Trump siding with Putin over the FBI and CIA?
Meullers’ criminal indictments of Paul Manafirt and other Trump campaign officials?

Which ones do you disagree with?

I didn’t know any of those specific topics were on the table in this thread. I only mentioned the Trump rally that I went to with my daughter and what I thought of his character as a man. Not his politics. We will have to discuss the rest of those topics another time. The stock market just closed and I need to go check and see how rich I am today. Yeah right Lefty! Ok now I may be sipping too much Koolaide!
