I partially agree with you in the sense that being dishonest makes you less effective in the long run because dishonest brings you into conflict with reality.

What makes a man attractive is being effective, which in essence comes from his ability to reason, not necessarily stoicism.

Men need validation from others, whether they admit it or not. Those who say otherwise should try living secluded from other human beings and see how it feels. They should go with no friends, no women, no family, no praise, affection, etc.

Stoicism = “I won by losing!”

The author originally wrote 48 Laws Of Power not as a guidebook, but as an exposure of those who have power and get it and use it through manipulative means.

A "look how terrible powerful people are" kind of perspective from a weak, sour grapes standpoint.

The book took off, people started treated it as a 'how to book" and the author became an overnight success.

Since then, he's changed his tune and tried to write other "how to" books based on alleged secrets of human nature.

People who quote or reference the 48 Laws of Power do so to try to give themselves more status and credibility.

If you do wish to improve your social status and influence, there are far better books.

Sun Tzu (Art of War, the 36 Stratagems) and Machiavelli to name a couple.

Sure, but in practice it didn't matter how many nations expelled them; they kept persisting and now they run the world.

Strongly disagree. Your viewpoint is a limiting belief. 48 Laws of Power is truly an insight into human behavior (as are his other books to varying degrees). How you leverage the information and to what extent is defined by your personal character and desired goals.

Everyone has degrees of narcissism, psychopathy and Machiavellianism, men and women alike, for example. Being aware of them doesn't suddenly make you full-blown versions of them. Same with the facets of the 48 Laws.

The old lady has The Prince, The Art of War, and 48 Laws of power at the bedside table at all times. Also the Art of Seduction a couple of Jordan Petersen books.

It benefits you to have a depth of understanding about human nature, especially as you find yourself surrounded by more upwardly mobile people.

Study and learn the game, lest you are easily outplayed.
