  • Hey BackInTheGame,
Just read your reply on my post (Why you should stay *No Contact*). I made a career switch last year after completing a bootcamp - no STEM degree- and I have had a software developer job for 1 year now. Any general advice for a newbie? Also, if you're taking on any mentees that would be a great help.

Hey bro, congrats on the software position! It's a great field to get into. My advice is don't be afraid to switch jobs frequently to get raises/promotions. It's how the industry works. I almost tripled my salary in 4 years by doing it. If I stayed at the same job I started at I probably would only be making half of what I make now even if I got raises or promotions.

Also don't be afraid to ask for a lot. Companies will pay it. Just make sure you are worth it with what you bring to the table tho!

I don't really have time for a mentee per se, but if you have any questions or need any help feel free to reach out and if I can help with it I will...

What kind of stack do you currently use?
