How many of you guys stretch before you work out and if so what are some good stretches to do?

The reason I ask is I normally ride my mtn. bike for cardio and never stretch but the other day I did 30 minutes on an elliptical machine and I swear the last 2 days my calfs are so sore it hurts to walk. Someone told me to stretch in advance.

Thanks.

Just because a woman listens to you and acts interested in what you say doesn't mean she really is. She might just be acting polite, while silently wishing that the date would hurry up and end, or that you would go away... and never come back.

Stretching is supposedly a huge plus. I know I have a little more ROM after I stretch, for obvious reasons. I also feel "fresher".

also, go to google and research "dynamic stretching" I'm a fan of those as well.

Save static stretching for post-workout. Do dynamic stretching pre-workout.

it probably had zero to do with the stretching. this should be obvious, but elliptical machines work your legs differently than a mountain bike, especially if you've never used one before.

I have read that stretching prior to a workout can help to avoid certain injuries. It is also healthy to always stretch when you get up in the morning. In this day and age, sometimes we get up and just get going, but we should always remember to stretch our back and limbs.
