USA is a large country and 1 million out of 334 million people is only about 3,34 % of the population. That is nothing.
The old and weak would have died anyway. Just like with any flue and other old people diseases. On top of that they recorded Covid deaths as that even if the person didn't really die of Covid, but died of some other disease and was just somehow infected with Covid too. So the number is highly likely even lower.

No, ignoring covid altogether, hundreds to thousands of businesses will still be open, the supply chain would still be uninterrupted, and the control of the government would not be as big as it was today. And there will be far more people still alive cause hospitals remains opened, people able to keep working to feed their families, and businesses will still be open to give people jobs.
