Then I discovered 22 simple rules that rewired my entire dating life. The anxiety vanished. Conversations flowed effortlessly. Women started chasing me for a change.

By today's standards, this will not appear "scary" but it's one of the most fun horror movies to watch.

By the way.... I've been a collector of rare offbeat, camp, exploitation cinema since the 1980's. If anyone else is into collecting and trading, here's my website.

What happens, IN HER MIND, is that she comes to see you as WORTHLESS simply because she hasn't had to INVEST anything in you in order to get you or to keep you.

You were an interesting diversion while she had nothing else to do. But now that someone a little more valuable has come along, someone who expects her to treat him very well, she'll have no problem at all dropping you or demoting you to lowly "friendship" status.

Guys do yourself a favour & watch The Wailing in the original Korean language with subtitles...

Then you can stop going on about these other mediocre horror movies

Cabin In The Woods
House
Carrie (the original)
The Thing
Also the War of the Worlds movie from '05 was pretty freaky, more sci than horror
These are all good but I should clarify that they had The Thing original and remake versions. Both were good but I preferred the original.
War of the Worlds reminded me of the Invasion of the Body Snatchers which was also good(Donald Sutherland version).

Doctor Sleep, the sequel to The Shining, is pretty good.

Horror films, like porn, and LGBTQ, and every other form of degeneracy in western culture is designed to debase and dehumanize anyone who comes into contact with it.

It's basically satanic in intent and origin. If you choose to turn your mind into pudding (perhaps it already is), be my guest.

I know you guys don't like to hear this, but basically ALL mass media is satanic propaganda. You are effectively poisoning your mind a little or a lot but you are NEVER becoming healthier or better from consuming sh-t.

Better off spending your time reading quality books (tough to find admittedly), exercising, enjoying a real life hobby, and interacting with friends and family wherever possible.

Consuming poison through your eyes and ears (and soul) is just as devastating in impact as consuming toxic foods and drink.

I enjoyed Dr Sleep. The director is the same director for Oculus which is a fantastic movie that can't seem to get any love from the horror community.....

Btw, Rebecca Ferguson who plays Rose the Hat is absolutely gorgeous...... she's what I imagine the "girl next door" type would look like when they're grown into womanhood.....

The way she says "welllll..... hi there........" is sexy.....

She is an attractive woman. She's 36, by the way.
I like the iconic look they gave her, helped make her a memorable villain.

I'm on a horror movie binge. I'd like suggestions for the absolute scariest horror movies you've seen. I'm talking about movies that made you afraid to sleep in the dark, movies that give you nightmares...

My top:

1) Hereditary - easily the scariest horror movie I've ever seen. It dethroned The Exorcist as the greatest horror movie ever made. I had this movie on my mind even 2 weeks after seeing it. It's the imagery, the music, and the genuine feeling of dread that writer/director Ari Aster masterfully crafted in the film. BTW, for the film theorists that hypothesize that the film was psychological and that the events took place in the minds of the mentally ill characters, director/writer Ari Aster dispels this theory: it's literal, the events that took place in the film literally happens, it wasn't sleepwalking or delusions. Go into the movie blind, don't read reviews or read the wikipedia page, don't let anything spoil the movie for you. Go into it with a blank slate.

But fair warning: If you're going to watch Hereditary, be prepared to be disturbed. This movie haunted my mind and caused me some sleepless nights.

2) The Conjuring 2 - incredible cinematography. There's a reveal scene that I found very creepy and effective - I won't spoil it for you though.

3) The Witch - not quite scary, it's disturbing....

4) The Exorcist - the opening scene in Iraq is still a cinematic masterpiece even today....

5) The Ring/ Ringu - The Ring was okay. Ringu capture the creep vibe through its music. Ringu has elements of "Butoh" which is creepy...... Generally I don't find Asian horror scary. Even Japanese horror movies I don't find scary, but rather I find J-Horror creepy.

As a long time horror fan, it's becoming a challenge to find anything genuinely scary - I've seen it all. I guess I'm jaded at this point. Horror relies on elements of the unknown, but I've pretty much seen all clichés, tropes and gimmicks now...

Jump scares are retarded. Gore is gratuitous and cheap. The only way for a movie to be scary is to craft an dreadful atmosphere through music, imagery and psychological tinkering....
The First Conjuring disturbed me more than any horror movie. I've seen the 5 you mentioned.

Midsommar is extremely disturbing. EXTREMELY

Lights Out made me slightly paranoid when turning out lights.

The Babadook was interesting

He just doesn't get it. It's basically like swallowing arsenic. It desensitizes people to evil in the guise of "entertainment."

You ARE onto something here new member, be bold and start a new thread on it.

Important to not insult(i saw in one or two other threads) or you'll lessen the impact of your message.

Make it a good thread on the toxicity of mainstream media.

That's the reason I love Ridley Scott's 1979 Alien. Seems like I don't have to tell you anything about it.

Sinister with Ethan Hawke is one of the best horror movies, I've watched over the last years. Nothing really new, more of classic horror with tense atmosphere intensified by music and disturbing scenes instead of heavy visual voilence.

Just because a woman listens to you and acts interested in what you say doesn't mean she really is. She might just be acting polite, while silently wishing that the date would hurry up and end, or that you would go away... and never come back.
