Fish oil dosage

Does anyone have a definitive answer on fish oil dosage?

Everywhere I look no one can seem to agree on how much fish oil to take each day. My supplement packaging recommends up to 3 a day (1000mg each pill, 300m epa/dha), but I just read in Warboss Alex's post that I should be taking 15g in pills minimum. I also just saw a guy (Charles Poliquin) telling people to take 30g in pills a day. What the f@ckin what??? :eek:

Has anyone here taken that much? Did it really provide added benefits? Right now I've been popping 3 daily, but I'm thinkin of increasing to 6 pills a day. I just have a hard time believing I need to swallow 15 of these pills every day to get a benefit.

I'm pretty anal about omega 3's, especially fish oil. I definitely agree w/ guys like Berardi/Poliquin that say that you gotta take a shiit load of it. Obviously I don't go overboard and take 30 pills a day, but I do take 6-8 of the high potency/high concentration fish oil caps that have 900 mg of EPA/DHA per pill. This way I know I'm getting at least 5 g of these EFAs in per day.

Just get something that's higher potency.

It depends on what u want. U may not need the ****-load of Fish Oil, but need something else instead.

as a general rule, for healthy people, around .5 to 1.8 grams of EPA and DHA a day from fish or fish oil supplements are recommended.

I recommend the higher EPA dosage ones as they help reduce inflammation much better. Arctic Pure is a very reasonably priced one that contains high EPA dosages...
