"Do I know you"

Ah...the classic "Do I know you..."

I've encountered it many times before, but never been able to find a solution. I sent this girl a message on Facebook that said

"Oh my gawwwd! Your name is *insert her name* too? Wow, we must be soulmates!"

As a note...we actually do have the same name...I'm not just making sh!t up

And she replied, with...

"hahaha do i know you?"

These "Do I know you's" have always stumped me, and it's time, once and for all...that I figure out how to deal with this. Any help at all would be appreciated, thanks! If it helps any...this girl lives near me

Respond with "I sat next to you in Ms. Walsh's English Class!"

If she responds back with another quote from Groundhog Day, you'll know you've got a keeper.

i would just ignore it and keep without whatever i want to say... do I know you? is a meaningless question... plow..

Normally when they drop the "do I know you line" it's best to respond with "sorry, must have mistaken you for someone else". Then you end all communication, unless they re-initiate.
If they're playing a game then this response takes all power away from them, and if they genuinely forgot a lot of times your quick non-schalant response will pique their curiousity.
And sometimes they won't respond at all, in which case you're better off for it.
