At first, I thought the title said why does every woman ask what we do?

Every single encounter I've had with women during the last 10 years, they would ask me what I did for a living within the first 2 minutes.

not necessarily true. i've been currently banging this girl for a few weeks and we still don't know what each other does.
 

Just because a woman listens to you and acts interested in what you say doesn't mean she really is. She might just be acting polite, while silently wishing that the date would hurry up and end, or that you would go away... and never come back.

feh before that no one really cares what class you are taking :)

but serious you shoudl just put her on the spot and tell her, "So many things to ask and you start making this boring question? let's try this what you like to do in your free time?"or a better questin you wanted to know or was curious about, I had a woman once ask me what car I had, I was less polite and didn't care to ask her anything after that, good thing its was a party and not a date, she was pretty, but a serious gold digger.... and that is from this kind of questions, are to gauge how much money you have and if you are worth of her time, so you spin it around and make her work to impress you since she failed on her first question, showing you was disapointed with such a question also helps or be more playfull and make it like a silly question and move on, depends on how your personality work with
