Whos doing remote work?

What happens, IN HER MIND, is that she comes to see you as WORTHLESS simply because she hasn't had to INVEST anything in you in order to get you or to keep you.

You were an interesting diversion while she had nothing else to do. But now that someone a little more valuable has come along, someone who expects her to treat him very well, she'll have no problem at all dropping you or demoting you to lowly "friendship" status.

Software engineer, it's fairly normal but not 20 months in a row normal
Yes. Unfortunately my as yet unproven theory is that the Covid era has accelerated the work from living space environment often portrayed in futuristic sci-fi movies. Unfortunately that also means the already set in motion complete death of newsprint, brick and mortar retail and business, as well as the current f2f social atmosphere.…
Feel free to let me know if I have time warped into the future too extensively, currently obsessed with abusing a holiday brisket in the Traeger ….

I'm a UX/UI Designer working remote. I'm on another state now just to get out of my city and meet another place. That's the good thing of working remote.

But in some ways if you're too much in your place without human contact it might be not so good... So its important to have it with friends, dates, etc.

my company just outsourced most of its tech overseas and the quality of their work is astonishingly bad. They have absolutely no understanding of the business they are assisting and are solely focussed on getting your support request closed - often without actually solving anything.
You’re describing the mistake many US companies made starting about two decades ago. It first surfaced in manufactured furniture imports from China. Said companies had to locate strict product quality reps on site there or China made and shipped krap here.

I completely understand what you’re saying regarding outsourced product creation, customer support, and service. The first barrier to get past is a customer talking to a foreigner and it’s made worse if there is a lack of awareness, understanding, and resolution from the foreigner.
Horrible production and customer support can eventually kill a company’s reputation and do significant damage financially. Your company’s too leadership needs service / product educators on site there or they will be unemployed soon…

Why do people keep doing this?
Its been know for many years now that the coders from India produce low quality sh'it code and support - well I'm not going to even start diving into that rabbithole of pure crap and comment on it.
When are people ever going to learn?

Yet, there are these retards that still keep doing it.
Its astonishing that people haven't learned the lesson from years and years of other companies failure with this...

Most jobs can be done remotely, outsourcing sounds good in theory but in practice you always get what you pay for.

It's always been a much smoother process when i call up customer service and get an Actual Australian on the line who knows what his talking about rather then some foreigner who obviously gets peanuts.

I currently work with various government departments and communication is a huge part of my role.

The one benefit of people overreacting to covid is that I get to not have to go into an office anywhere. It's great. My computer is just fine, too, and I have much better hardware and monitors than what the workplaces offer. Hilarious how it took virtue signalling a virus to get people to work remotely more, especially against all those executives and managers who think working from the office is the true way to work.

What are you selling and where:)?
A few pals work in tech. Fully remote. Several got fired over root beer floats. Even union trade guys were getting pushed. A few jumped in on entry level help desk roles. Pay was less than spectacular but it avoided the **** outcome of being held over a barrel. Possibly something that you can look into.

You sir are a juggernaut. That book was dry as ****kkkk. Long slog. Liked the part about "adequate returns." Would only imagine the perspective now with crypto.

Glad you are doing well mate.

I work fully remote. My company is literally on the other side of the country. I love it. Even if the pay was lower than non-remote jobs (which it isn't) the time and $ you save from not commuting is staggering.

Quit my non remote job to work a remote job with a competitor. I do rent a small personal office on the cheap just to get out of my condo. It works for me.

I WFH now 5 days a week. Never used to want to do it every day because I thought I would get lonely, but after COVID, I got used to it and wouldn't have it any other way.

I thought maybe I wasn't as much of an introvert as I thought, so I went back into the office for one day. Nope, dealing with people all day is still exhausting. Plus, my company requires you wear masks at work even if you're sitting in a cubicle. F that.

I always try to get out of the house at least once a day, and I don't spend much time here on weekends. Sometimes my office feels like a prison.
