Why "Whatever You Want" Keeps You Single

She says the movie looks dumb; you suddenly agree. She tests you with a little attitude; you apologize for nothing.

You think you're being easy to get along with. She reads something else entirely: a man with no edges. Nothing to hold on to. No friction, no tension, no reason to wonder what he really thinks.

The "22 Rules" taught me to push back — playfully, calmly, without needing her approval. Strange things happened after that.

I was taking the train home from school early the other day, I think it was just about noon. I was kind of tired from a lot of heavy studying, and I didn't make sure to check out the girls around me. But then I noticed this pretty girl, about my age, was actually checking me out. When I caught her the second time she smiled as our eyes met. So did I, but as I said, I was pretty tired and not so convincing.

This would've been the perfect time to say 'hi'. Unfortunately the train came and we went to separate carriages. I think neither of us could resist the temptation of fleeing to safety. Unfortunately I chose the AFC way. I really wonder how I should've handled this.

How about some tips on those situations when you meet the eyes of a girl and you both smiles, but then all of a sudden the situation changes and you have to take your attention away from the girl and watch where you're going, whether it's for a train, or going to class or leaving for whatever other urgent business...

"She Wants a Man, Not a Boy"

You asked her if she wanted to grab coffee. Then you asked if the time worked. Then you asked if the place was okay. Then you asked if she'd prefer tea.

Plan it. Pick the place. Pick the time. Tell her where to meet you. She'll either show up or she won't.

Either way, you look like a man instead of a scared little boy.

This article deals with my problem, to a certain extent. But what if we are taking the same train, and we'll probably both be on for at least half an hour? Should I go to her car right after I've had my ticket stamped? How should I approach her?

Don't overanalyze the situation.
It is just a train. You are just a boy. She is just a girl.

You smile, she smiles, but you had to divert your attention - no biggie. You know where she's at. Once you have a moment, go up to her, say hi, smile, and let it flow.
