I think I've seen that before.

In any society that emphasizes the "common good", there will always be people who will freeload on the good nature of others without giving anything themselves, and they have nothing better to do than breed.

The reason America created such noble men in its inception is that they were all farmers and woodsmen, people who had to work their arses off for their very survival, let alone to thrive economically/politically/socially.

Now we have a society that works "successful" people to the bone, taxes the crap out of them, and uses that money to support the "less-fortunate"...as if it was "fortune" that caused them to fail.

Lack of personal responsibility.

All accepted,but weren't they also Religious?and did they not also have the cohesive effects of sharing common Enemies?.....As to Evolution,yes Social Evolution is all around us,but looking at a deeper level there is certainly evidence of some "Supreme Architect".A creator whose influence roams the entire Universe.

I'll agree that religion is a factor in a lot of things, but I dunno if it's a factor in THIS discussion. Many of the "stupid people" who are breeding believe in a deity of some kind. Many of them do not as well. I don't think belief in God is particularly significant in this particular discussion.

From my own observations at 30, this is generally true. Most of my less intelligent friends are breeding quicker than my intelligent friends. However to be fair, the later are catching up and have the infrastructure to have more kids as evidenced by my one friend who just purchased a home and had their second. The really sad thing is that these kids are all growing up in single parent homes, so this is the norm rather than the exception.

The ones that always bothered me are the family's with a ton of siblings. These are religious families that don't believe in contraception, but do believe in welfare checks and food stamps. Whats worse is that these values are instilled into the children, and some wish to pass along the same legacy. Thinking about it from a mathematical standpoint, such family units over the generations will geometrically outpace a normal and intelligent family.

The culture seems to reward the less intelligent/prosperous people for breeding. A lot of single, unemployable women depend on the number of children they have for their welfare/child support.

Meanwhile, if you're a smart guy, you have to realize all the risks there are in having children, what with the current divorce rate. For many people, the reward is enough to offset them. For others, not.

Of course these days, I believe that with the move toward socialism in this country, a 14 trillion national debt with 10% unemployment and uncontrolled spending, we may just be witnessing the downfall of Rome.
