Sounding Stupid

Do you know any signs of sounding stupid, in a non-obvious way, because sometimes I say stupid things. Other times I can sound really intelligent, what are warning signs of you going wrong.
I was also wondering of ways to understand subtile communication.

Stay confident no matter what stupid sh1t comes out of your mouth. If you play it right it will sound like you're being funny instead of stupid.

Toastmaster's teaches to never say "ah, uh, um" or anything that is not a word when you are talking. I heard a CEO give a conference call once, and every other word was "um." He sounded like an idiot.

Other than basic speaking skills, you have to work on your think-it-don't-say-it filter. Some people don't have much of a filter, they just blurt out whatever they are thinking.

Difference between sounding stupid vs sounding smart is your own perception.


Unless someone tells you that you sound stupid there is absolutely no reason for you to think you sound stupid. Thus until that happens think you sound smart.
