You'd be surprised what people will share with you within 5 minutes of knowing them when you ask enough questions.

It's also knowing how to ask. There's the stereotype in interrogations in TV and movies that you bully or trick people into telling you their secrets. Real interrogations involve forming friendships and sympathising with people. People will tell you anything if they think you will understand and empathise with them. There's also some other tricks like being silent etc etc. You guys should read that stuff, super useful even outside of dating.

You should try to go into conversations with people with the intent of really getting to know them in a fun way. Challenge them gently. Find out what makes them tick. Conversation was something that always came naturally to me because I find people interesting. I truly believe you can learn something from anyone. If you go in with that mindset and try to make it fun, you end up getting a lot out of it. Doesn't work with everyone but 99% of people it does.
