Good actor, Val Kilmer was. Salton Sea is an underrated classic.

Pity the Doors movie obfuscated the absurdity of Jim Morrison's father helping start the Vietnam War by directing the Gulf of Tonkin incident, while Jim was helping lead the counterculture revolution by being rock music's biggest bad boy. Both anti-heroes but extreme polar opposites; the chances of this organically occurring are about 1/1,000,000,000. But film director Oliver Stone likes being alive, so...

"I'll be your huckleberry," from Tombstone is my favorite of all his lines. I saw that movie as a teenager and even then was suspicious of their depiction of the shootout at the ok corral being about enforcing a local gun control ordinance

All the more tragic when one recognizes
dude definitely had more than enough talent to be among those who enjoyed Liam Neeson-esque later career revival

His depiction of Doc Holliday is one of the high points in cinema for sure.

On a less serious note, I thought he made a decent Batman. The movie he was in stunk (Batman Forever), but I didn't think he made a bad Batman. That was the third movie in that series, but I always thought that title should have been for the fourth.

In the documentary "Val", he discusses the original script having been a far more somber exploration of Bruce Wayne's trauma , and his doubts over the life path he'd chosen + How the movie ultimately became one gigantic ad for merch*, even though traces of what could've been can still be found in the final product

*We can give Joel Schumacher and 90s Warner Brothers credit, in some demented sense: They anticipated what mainstream Hollywood would degenerate into a few decades later, once we were deep into The 10s
