as per the title, am curious to learn whether anyone has had success using a personal trainer and whether you would recommend it?

Never tried. I’m fully self-taught. Personal trainers have people doing a bunch of useless exercises. They have to validate their services.
I wouldn't say useless but I will say it's all about making money. Personal trainers/performance coach's are best suited for athletes actually competing at high level sports. They are a huge waste of money for everyone else.

Hmm...not mine. Dude was amazing. Holistic approach to training that had equal parts exercise, injury prevention, eating and sleeping enough.

There were exercises I did that I never heard of but none of them were useless.
