You are 100% correct. Money and materialism don't necessarily equal happiness. Their are plenty of miserable rich people out there and happy poor people. Poor people from Ireland, Poland and Mexico are a perfect example about the latter.

Owen Wilson allegedly attempted to commit suicide over his split from Kate Hudson.

The Wedding Crashers star - who is currently recovering in hospital after he reportedly slashed his wrists and took a pill overdose - was said to be distraught when he saw pictures of his ex-girlfriend with her new man, Dax Shepherd.

Owen and Kate - who has a three-year-old son, Ryder, from her marriage to rocker Chris Robinson - split in June, after constantly arguing about Owen's wild behaviour.

Kate began dating Employee of the Month star Shepherd in July and sources claim she is smitten with him.

Anyhow...people who commit suicide are the lowest of the low. Sh!t, in my old HS people were dropping like fvcking flies. The year before my freshman year, some kid commited suicide, my freshman year some senior commited suicide because he got bad grades and in my senior year some chick in my class offed herself because "her life was so hard". Pathetic fvckers all of them.

That last chick almost fvcked it up though. She OD on malaria pills and washed it all down with a bottle of vodka. Thing is, she wasn't smart enought to choose a method that was painless. So it took her like an hour in great pain before going tits up. And the best part, you ask? Well, after taking the pills she regretted doing it, so she wrote a note saying that she really didn't mean to commit suicide. HAHAHAAH stupid b!tch.

The gene pool needs cleaning, and I'm glad that there are people like this who are more than willing enough to clean it.

you guys hear about owen wilson's suicide attempt? the guy is only 38, hugely successful, pretty famous, by all accounts a great guy to boot (lots of friends, well respected by everyone, etc.) - has everything going for him and yet wanted to check out.

let this be a lesson - money, success, women, etc. - none of it is worth much if you don't have the right attitude towards life.

I have no idea what's going through his head, but you raise an important point again... sometimes we make things seem more important than we really are... whatever it was for him. All we really need is food, sex, sleep, a friend or two, and we're happy. It aint rocket science.

There as obviusly a lot more invloved, and a lot more issues than just this chick...

Look at society - everything on the news is about local disasters, terrorists, violence, rape, gangs, etc. plus the fact that everyone has to work their arses off just to make a living, while the gov't rapes us, along with the medical companies and eveyone else.

There are more and more cases of depression and mental instability in the US because the services to help those people are no longer affordable - mainly due to Reagan and his BS administration in the 80's.

In Canada it would cost me next to nothing for a CAT scan or a simple medical check. Here in teh US costs me $15,000 for CAT SCAN ALONE!!!

How society treats us and what it puts into our heads affects us more than we know...so it is never just about personal issues, ex GF's etc.

a bit off topic, but 40% of all bankruptcies in the US due to medical bills...how depressing is that!

while i agree with this, lets not forget most of us have the ability to type www.amazon.com and find thousands of books written by extremely intelligent professionals in various fields that offer alternative perspectives on life. we have greater access to 'functional living resources' than ever before. sosuave sometimes being one of those resources.

yes theres a mcdonald's on every corner, but that doesn't mean i have to eat that sh*t. i can drive a little further a get subway.

while the temptations are greater than ever before, so too are the alternatives.

as for health care and bankruptcy etc. - i live in canada so its not an issue for me

the state of extremes and dysfunctional cultural elements are definitely present in greater concentration in the US than in Canada.

but that being said, the existential angst associated with being alive is present everywhere in the world. as this thread points out - owen wilson was probably very rich. had health care, women, cars, houses, etc. - he likely had it all. and yet it wasn't enough.

being 'happy' is NOT a default state in this world. its an illusion to think it is. life is hard, unfair, unfortunate, disappointing, etc. more than its not. learning how to be happy with life requires a little work and education - but the answers are out there for those who go in search.

Basing everything you kow, feel, and love on a woman will never, ever end up good, true, and lasting.
Women are OUR Supporters. They are NOT supposed to be OUR WORLD...they are NOT supposed to be OUR SELVES.To lose your identity and life over a woman is to be avoided at all costs.
