Most old age advice in seduction is considered old fashion and useless these days.
Old age advice = The years after Mystery Method became popular.
This advice was most useful pre-Recession & pre-Covid.

One old age advice shared by everyone in particular was:
What to say if she has a boyfriend?
The Mystery Method heavily emphasized this as a sh!t test. If you can get past the sh!t test, you win her over. [Insert witty line about her bf problems]

The new age advice post-Covid completely counters this advice. What to say if she has a boyfriend?
Answer: If she puts up a wall or gives any reason to reject you, move on. You're completely wasting your time. Girls that are attracted to you make it really easy for you and have no need to c0ckblock you or put up a wall.

The problem with the seduction community is older people still giving out old age advice, which is outdated & irrelevant these days.
If think about and examine the information you are reading, most of the New Age advice counters almost all of the Old Age advice.

This criticism is not about sosuave, it's an observation about the seduction community as a whole.

In fairness, the new advice example you give has been around even pre-Covid. The play on words used be "on to the next" if one didn't work out for you and not continue to waste your time. I realize you are mentioning it specifically more in the "I have a boyfriend" situation, but that advice has been around for a long time -- here and in the greater seduction community.

Most of the "old school advice" is still on point. I think where it falls a little short is just in its best application when it comes to OLD and social media, which have exploded since Rollo wrote The Rational Male, etc. Doesn't mean it isn't still true, just that dating has become especially warped by technology much more so than even back in 2015. Women's options are so ridiculous and men are even thirstier than they were. Doesn't make the advice outdated or obsolete. In fact, probably the opposite.

Men and women just didn't change! lol. Women are still using the old "I have a boyfriend" trick hoping you will go away. I never paid much attention to the self proclaimed guru's like Mystery anyways but it certainly can be a schitt test. Typically its a girl telling you she is not interested and you should go away.

I would argue that women did indeed change, they were more open to casual dating pre-covid. Overall, defenses are higher now.

I think a lot of the old school advice has actually become much more mainstream and common knowledge. Mystery Method was always its own little niche. I don't see much new that has come out.

I've never liked the "I have a boyfriend" problem, because from what I can see most girls actually do have boyfriends. Saying so isn't necessarily just a trick to make you go away. There are varying levels of seriousness though. Of course, a lot of guys who only care about their own selfish pleasures are just looking for a way to bang them anyway, they couldn't care less if they are interfering in a good relationship. Although it is true that "boyfriend" is a label with a questionable level of commitment - it's not on the level of fiance or husband, although some wouldn't let that deter them either.

remember that we also change. when we are 25, 35,45,55,65, and so on... the reactions of the world change. our interpretation changes as do the actual actions given to us. at 35 will get a different reaction to ignoring the boyfriend comment than when older. we still look at the 18 - 30 range of women regardless of what our age is. we are the one changing, big rules in the environment stay more or less the same.

@Tilex "What to say if she has a boyfriend?"

"Well, honey, when you walk through the front door in the very near future, only to find the Man Of Your Dreams b-lls deep in your father's rear end, while Dear Ol' Dad is shouting out: "Halderman!!!", and your boyfriend is wearing a Nixon mask... Call me up. I'm exceptionally engaging company, despite being 1,000,000 times more twisted than the dude you're currently paired up with"

It's worked reasonably well for me, since I began deploying it back in the early 10s, and continues to do so today. Mystery, Jeffries, DeAngelo, Frank Kermit, Bobby Rio, etc etc all urged us to mesmerize the ladies/everyone else with our courage and ingenuity

Yeah, I get what you mean @Tilex. Some of that old-school advice does feel pretty dated now, especially when people treat every bit of resistance like it’s some kind of test you have to pass.

At the same time, I don’t think everything from back then is useless. Some basic principles still work, but people and situations change.

If she says she has a boyfriend just to shake me up, I’d probably smile and say, “Then make me your boyfriend too.” I just don’t let stuff like that throw me off.

Who says its outdated and irrelevant?

Girl: "I have a boyfriend"
Old age advice: "Do you want to trade up?"

Girl: "I have a boyfriend"
New age advice: "Sorry to bother you, I will leave you alone forever and ever and ever."

:)

Good point @Tilex

Women always act according to their feminine nature. But there are some issues that aren't black and white, but more nuanced.

One of these, for example, could be the belief that women who return to an orbiter after being dumped by an "alpha" are damaged, and use it as a backup, or because they don't know how to be alone. (Also discussed inthe HST). This was the common consensus, the one I believed most.

We all have ways to mature, and I don't want to say that "all" women who make this move are healthy, but there are a minority of them, just like us men, who work on themselves and their traumas.
They might actually have dumped the alpha because they realized they don't want that type of relationship (even if they were attracted) and were actually looking for the orbiter, who wasn't actually a beta or a nice guy, but was simply a stable man with less drama.

This is just one example.
Sosuave informs men about certain dynamics, then gives them some advice on how to manage their lives and relationships.
The Bible, too, should be revised and updated with materials that are more in line with the changing world.
Amid all the positive things it teaches, Sosuave also teaches negative things, such as teaching men to be avoidant. That's not what you want if you're aiming for a better future.

I was always under the assumption that old-age advice focused on men learning social skills, albeit under the premise that you could negotiate attraction, which was later rebutted.

New-age advice has always been more focused on increasing SMV, where personality carries less weight than looks, money, and status. If you lacked personality, the idea was that the other factors could compensate for it.

Agree with the above.

The big difference is the time required. You can learn “game” in a few months. Improving money/status can take years. The modern gurus need to be honest about how long it actually takes.

I have always asked myself where the win is in option one.

So she says "fvck it yeah, i trade up" and you start dating a ***** that left her BF for a better deal and you dont know at which point she will trade you in. What kind of win is that? If it is just for fvcks and giggles there are easier ways then cold approaching 100 yomen to get 5 tel. numbers and 0.9 fvcks out of it.

Like Clockwerk50 said... old age advice is all about negotiating desire and talking women into sleeping with you.

New age advice is to become the better man and become desirable instead of having to convince someone to fvck you.

After all the metoo BS and public shaming of men that walk up on random women, (work colleagues or women in fitnes clubs etc.) up to facing charges for sexual harrassment depending on the place you live, its the logical way to become the object of desire rather then trying to talk women into finding you attractive.

Granted, becoming desirable is not for everyone, but so isnt negotiating your way into pvssy.

To understand "old school" advice, you also have to understand the philosophy behind it. The original PUA movement was all about cultivating a "nothing is impossible" mindset. A girl says she has a boyfriend? It's a sh!t test. You have approached 100 girls at the mall and none of them gave you their number? No problem, you just have to come up with better openers. Girl says she just wants to be friends? Next time, escalated sooner. And so on. The central tenet of PUA was rewiring your brain to become immune to rejection. Or to at least act like you are immune to it. Once that mental reframing has been accomplished, the results will follow.

The problem with such an "optimistic" philosophy is that people will eventually get jaded. Increasing one's tolerance to rejection is a good thing to an extent, as it will help you overcome shyness and timidness if you have that issue. But it will not, in and of itself, deliver the kind of "mastery" that PUA promised by turning you into an irresistible don juan. So inevitably, "optimism" was replaced with "realism" (a focus on self-improvement) and "pessimism" (black pill and MGTOW). Eventually, another "optimistic" ideology will emerge. And then cycle will repeat itself.

Old school also was applicable at a time when the threshold of being considered “creepy” was higher. A guy could get away with being more direct and persistent in the face of rejection or appearance of rejection.

The 2003 advice might have been to “stay in the set and just keep talking.”

The 2026 advice is GTF out of there before you get kicked out and/or filmed lol.

Or today's men just lost basic social skills because they were brainwashed into thinking that basic social skills are beta male/blue pill behavior.

Inside her mind
The new age advice is mostly about "Looksmaxxing" and while I don't agree with some of the crap i.e. druge use, putting a hammer to your face, steriods. Society has become far more shallow, I mean it's always been shallow but 20 years ago a woman who was a 5 knew her place, now even 5's want guys who are 10s. So there has been a HUGE emphasis on guys getting jacked, grooming etc

Because the most convenient women are on particular channels like OLD and social media which the tradeoff is a more competitive environment. Most men do not have the firepower to compete on OLD, so they should stick to local channels where women are going for local men. However, that requires social skills and leaving your comfort zone which are considered “beta male” so he’s SOL out of that. Last, you have cold approaching which is a very niche channel that few guys can pull off because input is high and the success rate is near 0%.
