Recently I've hit a road block in my physical development. I've lost about 25 pounds but I just can't get defined abs. I was told by an associate at work that if I want to start to get the toned abs that most women are attracted to, I need to work my obliques.

I've just been doing 3 sets of crunches at 50 reps a pop. And then 25 leg lifts for three sets as well.

I try to keep my diet reasonable as well, as I only take in 1500 calories a day. I spread out my meals into 5 meals a day at 300 calories...to speed up my metablolism.

Any help or advice for a man looking to reach the next level?

Shop until i die? What's that about?

Too many reps on abs. Less reps, more weight.
Eat more. 1500 calories is a joke.

Is your bodyfat % low enough for a 6-pack? I lost almost 40 pounds back when I started exercising, but it was still never enough to get visible abs. Getting a 6-pack is about having low enough bodyfat, not having enough muscle. Eating tons more calories isn't going to get you a 6-pack.

Exactly, which is why I limit myself to 1500 calories a day.

So should I be trying to lose more weight before I think about getting a six pack?

Sixpack = Protein + Water + Diet + Exercise

Your mission is to burn off calories, and lose close to all of your fat so your muscles appear to pop out more.
So basically you need a low intake of food, but enough protein to sustain your training routine.

Fat = bad, so don't use something like peanut butter for example as your protein.

timed carb diets, carb cycled diets, anabolic diet will get you a 6 pack assuming you do the cardio and do your weighted ab exercises

cool, what kind of "weighted ab excercises" do you think I should do?

weighted situps, pulley abs, weighted ab machines, leg raises, weighted pull ups


seems to me like your first question should be about the diets though since thats basically everything

wtf, lol. I must not have read the original post or something, I thought he was talking about bodyfat, not fat in foods.
 

What happens, IN HER MIND, is that she comes to see you as WORTHLESS simply because she hasn't had to INVEST anything in you in order to get you or to keep you.

You were an interesting diversion while she had nothing else to do. But now that someone a little more valuable has come along, someone who expects her to treat him very well, she'll have no problem at all dropping you or demoting you to lowly "friendship" status.

I don't think people have enough aerobic activity in their workouts and their sources of nutrition makes abdominal definition difficult.

you need super low bodyfat for a sixpack:
so you don't want to take in any dietary fat,
because it will contribute to your bodyfat.

the exercise part is to help lose your bodyfat by burning it off.

additionally, you need to eat healthy foods... preferably fruits and vegetables for your natural vitamins and minerals etc., with a good amount of protein on the side for your muscle buildup for workouts, also you should mainly drink water, or fat free milk.

The aim of this isn't to lose weight, but to lose fat and build up your muscles so they just stick out there and show themselves.
