TBH, the only reason the Mob got ahead is because the Jews focused on becoming educated and getting into academia and the Irish focused on becoming cops. In reality, the Irish gave the Italians marching orders in the northeast. Cartels did not care and even Irish Americans respect Hispanic Americans in a way that they will never respect Italian Americans.

None are as strong as the Maple Syrup Mafia in Quebec. They control 70% of the world's maple syrup. The Netflix documentary was pretty interesting.
They are also backed by the government who has said in a court ruling when independent distributors sued that anyone who wants to sell maple syrup there needs to join their syndicate.
If that's not power, I don't know what is.
