Now that I reflect on it more, you're right that a taxi could've been a good option too. The main thing I was worried about is that she was out with her friends, and that I would be stranded an hour away from my house without a car. I was mostly worried about being stranded.

With her friends, I could've just told her to tell them that she was leaving.
