I cannot say I've encounted that, no.

I have noticed though that "flexible dieting" and ~16 hour fasts at least 4-5 days a week (sometimes less) has led to the best changes in my physique and energy level in my life despite being older now.

Are you weighing yourself or going off appearance ? When I’m dieting my muscles get flat and I actually look softer. If I have a cheat day the muscles get loaded with glycogen and pop back out and I look much leaner.

Are you sure you're not just crapping out of the bad food OP?

What happens, IN HER MIND, is that she comes to see you as WORTHLESS simply because she hasn't had to INVEST anything in you in order to get you or to keep you.

You were an interesting diversion while she had nothing else to do. But now that someone a little more valuable has come along, someone who expects her to treat him very well, she'll have no problem at all dropping you or demoting you to lowly "friendship" status.
