Believing there's a "dream girl" out there for you is a case of oneitis but in the abstract.
When you do that, some girl will come along and you will fill your head up with false assumptions and dreams and expectations, turn into a beta chump, and repel her eventually.
You gotta screen and test, because that's what they are doing too. You don't meet your "dream girl", she demonstrates to you over time that she's better than the others, though that is usually an illusion too.
