Just because a woman listens to you and acts interested in what you say doesn't mean she really is. She might just be acting polite, while silently wishing that the date would hurry up and end, or that you would go away... and never come back.

I agree with Willard, online dating is a great place to start..
The biggest thing is don't go into it with a "I'm going to find my next GF or wife" mentality, or an "I'm going to get laid mentality". Start out with no expectations other than temporary entertainment and learning/growth. Think of each woman as a temporary glass of beer, like this:
