"You'll Never Feel READY to Walk Over"

Next Monday you'll feel more confident. After the gym you'll feel more confident. After one more drink you'll feel more confident. After you get a better haircut, a better jacket, a better job.

You've been "getting ready" for two years.

She's standing ten feet away right now. She'll be gone in four minutes. No amount of preparation will manufacture the courage that only comes from moving your feet.

Walk over. Stumble through the first sentence. Let it be clumsy. Let it be imperfect. You will feel more alive in those ten seconds than you have all month.

They just met her; give it time. She will grow on them.
One day she will do something to earn respect in your parents' eyes. You're overreacting to quickly...

And you're only 16, parental consent with your girlfriend is not crucial. But, nonetheless, give it more time and things will work out.

Do not push it upon your parents. It WILL work out.

It happens. My parents never really liked my ex. Parents have this instinct sometimes about girls. Trust it. Besides, you're only 16, you have many more girls ahead of you, one's bound to be one your parents will like. :)

You know, I've noticed that all the girls I brought home that my parents' did NOT like turned out to be the girls I regret dating in the first place.

They were horrible people. My parents' detected it before I did; give your parents a bit more credit. They do love you, and they do have more experience in everything than you, or even me. So listen to them; but your action is your own decision. But, listen.

"I just moved here from Florida."

That sentence contains at least five follow-up questions she WANTS you to ask. Where in Florida? What brought you here? How long have you been in the area? What do you miss? How does it compare to here?

She handed them to you on a silver platter. And you said, "Oh cool. I come here every week. I love this band. Ummm... pretty crowded tonight."

She smiled politely. Nodded. And never texted you back.

I was that guy for years. Talking too much. Listening too little. Panicking about my next sentence while she was literally feeding me the answers.

Then I found 22 rules that fixed the whole thing. Rule number one: shut up and listen. She'll tell you exactly what to say.

okay. so just give it time? yea. I know I'm only 16 but still, I like her. I don't think I'm going to leave her just because my parents don't like her.

Nothing you can really do. Like previous posters said, parents are usually right about these types of things. But that alone isnt a reason to next her.

I'll go with the analogy of Red Flags. Everyone has a piece of personality that raises a Red Flag. I need not explain what a Red Flag is. When parents don't like her, it's either because:

1. There are multiple flaws within her
2. Your parents are on crack
3. You didn't see the obvisous
4. She did something.

Since it's rarely (if at all) #2, it's 1, 3 or 4. Usually, it'll be 1, followed by 3.

It's something to understand and remember. Definitely not a reason to next her, but you should understand how this works.

Tell them straight up they better put up with her and be polite or life is gonna get a lot more difficult for them.
