Master Don Juan
This is annoying me now, I can do 3x8 hammer curls with 15kg dumbells, but can do about 2 proper ones with 17s....whats the best way to increase, cos I've been stuck for the past 3 workouts!!
She says the movie looks dumb; you suddenly agree. She tests you with a little attitude; you apologize for nothing.
You think you're being easy to get along with. She reads something else entirely: a man with no edges. Nothing to hold on to. No friction, no tension, no reason to wonder what he really thinks.
The "22 Rules" taught me to push back — playfully, calmly, without needing her approval. Strange things happened after that.
You asked her if she wanted to grab coffee. Then you asked if the time worked. Then you asked if the place was okay. Then you asked if she'd prefer tea.
Four questions. Four chances for her to say no. Four signals that you're terrified of making a decision.
Plan it. Pick the place. Pick the time. Tell her where to meet you. She'll either show up or she won't.
Either way, you look like a man instead of a scared little boy.
Dinner ran three hours. She laughed at everything. You walked her to her car thinking this one's locked in.
Then: nothing. Two texts. No reply. What happened?
You did what most men do on a great date. You filled every silence, answered every question, and left her with nothing to wonder about. No mystery. Nothing to sit with when she got home.
Rule 3 of the "22 Rules" changes the ending: tell her a little, hold back the rest, and let her imagination do the chasing. The ghosting stops too.
You should have that as a signature.Teflon_Mcgee said:Also remember, in the gym you can only cheat yourself.
there is nothing 'official' about them. you are still doing half the lift and you are not strong enough to curl up the weight from the absolute bottom, period.L777 said:You should have that as a signature.
Cheers for the advice man, never knew about official 'cheat' reps.

to me, it's like a deadlift off the floor.. getting the bar off the floor is the hard part, so many people 'tap' or even bounce the bar off the floor on subsequent reps. it's the same principle here. will you be moving more weight? yes. will you get a growth response? yes. will you have as good a growth response as if you'd done it strictly? no way.
this is why I say lean against the wall when you do curls. no room for cheating.
Well, exactly.. you lean back against the wall SO that you can develop good form, and learn to curl without assistance. This way you learn to actually use the arm muscles more, so if in future you curl without the wall, it will be second nature to you.Teflon_Mcgee said:I guess we'll have to agree to disagree on this one.
Granted, I'm not saying use cheat reps on every set or everyworkout. But as a supplemental in your tool bag they can come in handy.
Also I have to disagre with you about standing on the wall. It's much better to develop good form while standing without support. This has been studied numerous times to show that stnading curls and shoulder presses produce better growth potential due to the increase in total muscle usage.
Much like the idea behind compound lifts.
Your buddy Dave has been single for three years and thinks "hey u up" is a valid strategy. Your other buddy Mike just got dumped and told you to "just be yourself."
You showed them her text. You asked them to decode the emoji. You drafted four responses and sent the screenshot to the group chat for a vote.
She's been waiting forty minutes.
Put the phone down. Stop crowdsourcing your love life. Type something that sounds like you. Hit send. Then go do literally anything else with your evening.
Try some pull-ups & chin-ups 2-3times a week. You'll grow some solid back & arms.L777 said:This is annoying me now, I can do 3x8 hammer curls with 15kg dumbells, but can do about 2 proper ones with 17s....whats the best way to increase, cos I've been stuck for the past 3 workouts!!
