We all miss the days when The Red Pill was simply short hand for "Don't be the sort of moron who just blindly buys into everything you see, hear, and read. Dig into that s-it for yourself"
Nobody misses the conspiracy theory nonsense most people want to subscribe to.

Carbon capture technology takes releasing of CO2 to build, it's a bad solution imo. Same with solar panels and turbines, they all take polluting refinement just to put in place and can take a decade or more until they're neutral, as which point they're approaching EOL. We're better off genetically modifying a species of tree to capture and sequester at a freak rates.

It's the same with EVs. If you want to offset all of the carbon released in the manufacturing process of the EV, you have to drive it for some 600k+ miles just to break even.

I don't like the alarmist rhetoric because it's used politically to apply sanctions and restrict freedoms under the guise of safety. Unfortunately no developing country is going to play along since the cost of doing so is missing out on life changing advancements for their people. The topic is heavily politicized and there are unfortunately some buried stories that are contrary to the narrative...

Humans start to show cognitive decline when the CO2 ppm starts to approach 1000, and it's currently at 427 with a 2-3 ppm increase per year. I believe the goal is to get it back down under 350ppm.

We know a sudden increase in temperature is disruptive, but like others have mentioned, it would unlock arable land in otherwise inhospitable places. Melting of the ice caps would also make new oil fields available. The planet overall has gotten greener from our emissions, and we have no idea how the planet will respond outside of a few years forecast. There are an insane amount of variables to consider. For instance, not all weather events have become more extreme, some less so, but the narrative has buried any sources that say this despite the research being correct.

Imo we'll neuter ourselves with micro plastics before we have to worry about lethal ambient temps worldwide. Blood clots are on the rise and fertility is on a rapid decline. If artificial insemination becomes the only way to have children, population decline is inevitable.

As a species, we're making a large bet that we'll find climate solutions using resources provided by the short sighted pollution before it's too late. We could simply not make that bet or fold our hand, but that would reduce food production dramatically, among other things.

The alarmist tone is incredibly suspicious to me. I have yet to hear that military powers should be shrunk as an effort to help. It's likely going to be used to bolster claims that x or y need to be made unavailable to the public. It's an attempt to bailout private pollution losses via the taxpayer, something that cronies have been getting away with for monetary losses for decades.

There are simple solutions, but complicated ones are proposed because a slow down in the economy isn't worth it to the cronies. They would much rather do whatever and trick congress into subsidizing them at your expense.

The population will have to come down or we'll have to learn to live very meager lives. This is of course assuming that we don't innovate our way out of this with tech. What a time to be alive!
Exactly what things are becoming less extreme?

Droughts, wildfires, flooding, heat waves, intense thunderstorms/straight line winds, hurricanes, tornadoes, blizzards/lake effect snow intensity, etc etc etc are all demonstrably worse and most far worse now.

"Unlocking arable land"? Don't you know all the buildings in those areas are built on permafrost and take that into account in how they are built? As the permafrost goes away they are left with buildings that all crumble and are left in disrepair...it's a severe problem in places like Alaska as are the rivers not freezing completely or freezing and unthawing abnormally which are used as roads in the winter time to travel over with trucks and dog sleds to transport goods as the roads are not great in their areas. Also causing issues with wildlife as polar bears require it to hunt properly and many of them are starving because they can't get enough food.

If one day someone jumps off a bridge, then goes up or sideways, rather than straight down, gravity will prove to be either

-More complex than we previously believed

Or

-A myth

When we're not honest enough to admit that we really are offering an opinion, when we deem something a fact, we end up with dogma and intellectual stagnation
Gravity can be canceled out by acoustic waves vibrating at certain frequencies. It's known as acoustic levitation.

Yeah when did red pill become anti-science, anti-law and order, Alex Jones subscribed mental incompetence riddled blokes?
This inevitably occurs in any theology which clings tenaciously to a polarized worldview... If we're to buy into everything The RP's Ayatollahs preach without expressing so much as a hint of skepticism, reality really is just as cut and dry as "Everything we've deemed Blue Pill is false, everything we label Red Pill is The Infallible Word Of God"

Just because a woman listens to you and acts interested in what you say doesn't mean she really is. She might just be acting polite, while silently wishing that the date would hurry up and end, or that you would go away... and never come back.

This may even offer us an alternate explanation of what occurred with Regan MacNeil back in '73, at least insofar as the levitation portion of her ordeal goes. Pazuzu of course still remains the most likely culprit for the masturbation via crucifix, head rotation, projectile vomiting, and Spider Walk

Yes...I have read about the monks doing that by facing a certain direction and all blowing some type of giant horns at the same time...it's pretty wild...would think scientists would try and replicate it but I haven't heard of any studies attempting it.

Interesting note...that movie was based on an actual event that took place and the exorcism was performed at the University I went to by Jesuit priests on campus in one of the buildings still in use today by the business school. However the 4th floor where it took place has been sealed shut and nobody can go up there.

Also, in real life the affected child was a boy not a girl.

The priests who oversaw this case no doubt BELIEVED they were battling Satan and protecting the innocent, same as these loons

And others cut from their mold believe that they're fighting bigotry and protecting so-called marginalized people

Every culture believes in some form of possession by evil spirits, many of them have items placed above doorways to keep them from entering their houses.

Joking about that shows a level of immaturity that is surprising even for you

In the not too distant past, almost every culture on Earth

-Practiced slavery

-Was governed by absolute monarchs

-Had no conception of due process. Folks were frequently murdered outright, after a mere accusation had been made against them, and this was mistaken for "justice"

Hell, all those practices continue today, in many cultures around the world. Apparently, we now believe that a tradition's ubiquitiousness automatically renders it healthy, sane, and beyond all reproach

Pretty soon many of these places will be uninhabitable if this continues warming at the rate it has seemingly every year being warmer than the last.
Human beings have been living in hot climates for hundreds of thousands of years without the benefit of advanced technology that we have today. We'll be fine.

Why so defensive over this? Anthropogenic climate change has been proven. No need to lose sleep over it.
Just like religion, science has become completely political. What was considered scientifically proven decades ago is deemed heretical today. For example, it wasn't so long ago that there was widespread scientific consensus about innate differences in intellectual ability between individuals of difference races. Another example is homosexuality, which was classified as a mental disorder in most western countries as late as the 1980's. And then one day, as if by an act of magic, it became a "normal" thing. The science has not changed but the politics have. These days, you would get instantly "cancelled" for saying something that was widely accepted as unassailable scientific truth less than century ago. And I wouldn't be surprised if a few decades from now, anyone who talks about "anthropogenic climate change" would be deemed a dangerous lunatic and treated accordingly.

They have not been living in places where wet bulb temperatures exceed conditions that humans can survive in because those haven't existed until very recently. Otherwise they literally would have died.

Now they are becoming more and more common and within the next 20 years unless things change, they will cause pretty severe issues in more and more places, starting with the coastal areas of the Middle East like Yemen.

Wet bulb is the temperature combined with humidity at which the human body can no longer cool itself and will die from overheating even when in the shade and at rest. Basically, if you go outside for any length of time, you die.

There have never been those conditions existing that are as prevalent as they are now during the times humans have been living and they are increasing both in frequency of occurences and in geographical locations where it's occurring.

People have been saying the exact same thing for more than 20 years and yet we're still around. I also remember the "ozone layer scare", which was a big thing in the 1990s (before global warming became a big hit). We were all supposed to die from solar radiation by the year 2010. No one talks about the ozone layer anymore for some reason. And back in the 1960's, they were predicting a new ice age. You can think of many other examples of whacky pseudoscientific theories that became mainstream.

What I find scary is that one day, some idiot political leader may actually try to combat these imaginary demons and cause REAL harm to our environment in the process. They are already talking about building machines that would "suck" CO2 out of the air and store it in the ocean. Gee, what could possibly go wrong when you start messing with the atmosphere?

Yes, and more and more people continue to die from these issues every year.

Why wouldn't they continue saying it? Or should they just do the "stick my head in the sand like an ostrich and pretend it isn't happening" method that so many posters here seem to like employing? There is a saying that there are 3 kinds of people..."Those who make things happen, those who watch things happen and those who wonder what is happening".

The wonder what is happening seems to be the large majority here.

Don't worry...one day you'll take your head out to look around and everything will be just fine and you'll be reminded how you dont believe in any of this nonsense. Everything will be right as rain...just like the Oracle told Neo in the Matrix. Would you like a cookie and a nice tall glass of milk too?

Unfortunately your beliefs are not supported by any known facts.

"Those who make things happen, those who watch things happen and those who wonder what is happening".
The problem is that people who make things happen often have no idea what they are doing. As a result, they make the wrong things happen. This is particularly true of our so-called political leaders, who are more interested in pandering to hysterical suburban female voters than in actually addressing complex problems.

I'm guessing that you are not big on studying history (most people aren't these days). If you were, you would know that every time humans tried to "fix" their natural environment, the results were disastrous. Some examples include Mao's attempt to exterminate sparrows (to stop them from eating grain), the Soviet plan to reverse the flow of Siberian rivers, Africanized bees, use of invasive plants for erosion control...the list of negative examples goes on. On the other hand, there isn't a single example of a successful human attempt to fix a natural "problem". So you can have your cookie and nice tall glass of milk. Just keep your hands off my environment.
