I've came across my dream girl on Facebook! 3 mutual friends, all of whom I'm not close to. Nothing else in common between the 2 of us.

How would you approach this situation? And if I were to FB message her, what would be a good opening?

Background: I'm currently in a South-east Asian country. The girl is a Chinese girl.

In my experience facebook messages don't worry ever unless the girl already is checking out your profile and has a crush on you. Seeing as you have 3 mutal friends I doubt she is and will probably come off creppy

You can stop referring to her as your 'dream girl' for a start. This kind of pedastalisation will lose you the game before it even starts.
