What happens, IN HER MIND, is that she comes to see you as WORTHLESS simply because she hasn't had to INVEST anything in you in order to get you or to keep you.
You were an interesting diversion while she had nothing else to do. But now that someone a little more valuable has come along, someone who expects her to treat him very well, she'll have no problem at all dropping you or demoting you to lowly "friendship" status.

I think the "choose your spouse" meme that was at the heart of the great play/movie "Fiddler on the Roof", was a guiding principle of the Sexual Revolution and the Me Generation, and has found its apotheosis with OLD, is destined for a major reset. The Paradox of Choice is a paradox because rather than liberate, it befuddles.

Many men are quitting dating because they are not seeing results from it.
There's no reason to go on multiple first dates that don't result in either first date sex or eventual sex from a longer term relationships.
Additionally, it is even worse for men that don't get dates from electronic methods or get their in-person approaches ignored.

A girl I wound up with, whom I met on Tinder, told me she matched with a guy she didn’t find attractive, but thought his bio was cool. They met & she told him, straight up, ‘no kissing. No sfx.’. He still took her out to a ball game & dinner.
Dating is fine as long as you realise it’s a value exchange.
It’s fun in the beginning but at some point women always want more than you are willing to give (money, energy, attention, time, validation etc.) and/or the quality/quantity of bedroom action or whatever else you want from the relationship declines or has increasingly more and more conditions placed on it (choreplay, giftplay, romance play, moving in or marriage demands etc.).
What was relatively low investment for you in the beginning increases over time and the satisfaction you experience declines. Probably the same experience for her as well, just different things.
It’s then a slow death spiral to the inevitable break up, dead bedroom, affair/cheating, increasing feelings of unhappiness/dissatisfaction/boredom; just the length of time this takes to happen can vary. There are exceptions of course but everyone thinks they will be the exception.
