Condom Advice? Sorry for putting it in this category!

Is there a sure way of making sure that once you take a condom out of it's wrapper, you don't put it on inside out?

Lately, I have a problem when I put one on. It rolls about half-way down and then I can't seem to get it any further? Why could this be, as sometimes it works fine!

First Time Sex Problems!
My girlfriend and I tried to have sex last night for the first time (for both of us). It was a disaster, I couldn't get the condom on, and then when I did get it on, I didn't know where to put it! I feel like a total idiot, and she finds the whole thing hilarious, and I don't. What would you do in this situation as it's so embarrassing!
