Currently reading Casanovas memoirs. I notice back in the 1700's men actually had sex with 14 year olds & everyone was ok with this. Law must of obviously been different back then.

I'm on the third volume now & Casanova has just met a fourteen year old girl. He has smoothed her family over & told the reader he is in love with the girl & is going to give her a ring.

As life spans were rather short due(maybe 40s if lucky) to diseases and the unsanitary living conditions
