Talked to a doctor because my best bud has oral herpes and I wanted to make sure I didn't get it, if I could still smoke pot with him etc(though I didnt ask like that).. Direct contact is the only way to get it, much more rarely by drinking after the person, but there needs to be mucuous membrane on membrane to transfer the virus. I know...I stopped smoking with him when I found out he had it just to be safe whether he had an outbreak or not. He got it from making out with a girl that had a cold sore....ewww.
