The only way a breakup can be anything but mutual is if one person is living in denial of blatantly obvious signs that the other person is not reciprocating.

If you ever just come right out and say "I want X, and if you can't provide that, then we need to go our separate ways", chances are they will tell you they are sorry they can't provide X (if they could, they would have already). Remember: they probably wanted to.

Then, there is nothing left to do but hug and say you are happy you met them and move on.
