"She Wants a Man, Not a Boy"

You asked her if she wanted to grab coffee. Then you asked if the time worked. Then you asked if the place was okay. Then you asked if she'd prefer tea.

Four questions. Four chances for her to say no. Four signals that you're terrified of making a decision.

Plan it. Pick the place. Pick the time. Tell her where to meet you. She'll either show up or she won't.

Either way, you look like a man instead of a scared little boy.

The more you abuse them, the harder it is to let go.

So many women struggle to leave an abusive man.

https://www.reddit.com/r/abusiverelationships/comments/1ocqsut
Notice how many of them say they've broken up and gotten back together more than five times.

No one talks about whether these women had any trauma that led to these dynamics.

Everyone blames the abusive man.

i have known couples where the man is abusive to the women (physically and mentally). others where the men are strong and kind, and really support the woman. generally it doesn't matter the women still do what they do, only the reasons change.

Admitting outright:

"I wasn't a helpless 5 month old... I was 18+, and made a conscious choice to affiliate with bottom feeders, in no small part due to my being such a creature myself. I was dishing out a barrage of maltreatment onto my colleagues, waiters, baristas, anyone who wasn't likely to send me out of the building in a stretcher, even as I myself was being clobbered at home"

Can be uncomfortable. Therefore, most folks choose to NOT do so

Next, we'll discover that human fervor for individual liberty is, in actuality, more rare than the sight of tumbleweeds in Antartica. Most of us yearn for a messianic strong man who'll "protect" us from all events we find disagreeable in some way

It is the pattern of creating pleasure and inflicting pain that creates deep wounds and makes a woman weak and dependent. When affection is repeatedly given and withdrawn, it creates anxiety and uncertainty. The alternation between feeling loved and fearing that love has been lost can strengthen the bond and make it harder to let go.

I can predict the future of that relationship: the body will start to give phisical signs.
Infact, there'll be that "revelation" moment, when that woman body in an abusive relationship, cannot tolerate what is happening, no more, so she will go.

It's like something I have with my father, whenever I hear his voice, my body get activated.
I never saw people coming from warm families being abused or abusing others
Until you know them, or get to spend at least a week with them (holiday, etc..)
There is this couple of friends that are perfect in public, but after I've spent 3 days with them on a travel, I saw their true souls behind the mask

"She Made Her Decision Before You Finished Your Sentence"

Three seconds. That's how long it took. Your shoes. Your posture. The way you held your drink. Whether you looked at the floor or looked at her.

She already filed you away. Interesting. Boring. Safe. Bold. Before you even opened your mouth.

Everything you say after that is just her confirming what she already decided.

So stop rehearsing lines. Fix the first three seconds. Stand tall. Look up. Smile like you mean it. Walk like you belong wherever you're standing.

The words come later. The impression comes first.

I've noticed this too, the woman almost never gets blamed. I think it's because men tend to suffer in silence, while women will broadcast their side of the story all over social media.

haha, its a good point but don't' know what the point is. funny.

so the idea is that women do what they do regardless of the situations. if she is going to spend time with another man the reason can be because she is abused at home and looking for safety or escape. or it can be because she is bored at home and looking for excitement or escape. whatever is the situations will be the excuse and it will be the fault of the man.

either way her version of reality is just that; her version.

yes it happens, but i am very very skeptical of a woman making an accusation. the most gentle and kind can be pushed and manipulated into a response. very few humans understand self control but many understand how to trigger another.

Many men are, too.

I struggled to leave an abusive woman.

It was rough.

I survived, and am now thriving.

"You'll Never Feel READY to Walk Over"

Next Monday you'll feel more confident. After the gym you'll feel more confident. After one more drink you'll feel more confident. After you get a better haircut, a better jacket, a better job.

You've been "getting ready" for two years.

She's standing ten feet away right now. She'll be gone in four minutes. No amount of preparation will manufacture the courage that only comes from moving your feet.

Walk over. Stumble through the first sentence. Let it be clumsy. Let it be imperfect. You will feel more alive in those ten seconds than you have all month.

Why people choose to remain with abusive partners, or break up and return are so varied, different and nuanced, it's impossible to narrow it down to one or two reasons.

However one reason which I think has at least some merit is that some women actually enjoy and "get off" on playing the "victim."

I put victim in quotes because in truth they are NOT a victim at all, they are making a conscious choice to stay, to relinquish their own agency which on some level could be considered a manipulation and/or in part gaslighting in its own right. Or both.

Sounds odd but they feel empowered by it; there is a great example of this in a powerful HBO series called "Big Little Lies" (season 1) specifically Celeste and Perry's relationship.

Celeste (Nicole Kidman) admitted as such to her therapist. She would subconsciously (or consciously?) provoke Perry, pushing his buttons, in one scene Perry actually screamed "Do you want me to hit you"!!?

She admitted in therapy she did as afterwards when he came crawling back, begging for forgiveness, she then became the powerful partner in complete control of the situation and him. It's a toxic dynamic but very real in some relationships where abuse is present.

From the Centers for Domestic Violence in my local area.

>>"Playing the victim can be a type of learned helplessness, something that can point to a case in which abuse has been present, or a kind of manipulation where the person being abused is minimizing their contribution to a situation for gains.

Sometimes, the reason they do this is to play on other people’s tendency to be caring, because when someone hears a sob story, they often express support, feel empathy for the individual, and want to help them. People also play the victim to avoid taking responsibility for something happening in their life. They prefer to blame others [i.e. their partner] instead of taking action to improve something [or themselves].<<"

There are many stories I have read about and personally observed, attesting to this.

Something to consider.
