Hi, friends.
This past week I went out on two dates. For the sake of continuity, they shall be Girl 6 and Girl 7. I met both of them on Tinder, BTW.
--------
Girl 6 (25 YO) — Kiss close
I think I matched with her on Sunday. We texted a little bit, but I've learned to pace myself with texting unless the situation calls for something different. I usually just focus on my hobbies or whatever I'm working on or enjoying at the moment, and then answer when I have time.
On Thursday, I think, we were texting and I went through my usual routine before asking for her number: "So, what do you like to do for fun?" That usually gives me some information I can use to figure out whether we have similar interests or ideas of what makes a good time. If we do, I suggest going out, ask for her number, and then confirm the date. This time, however, things went a little differently. She answered, "I'm available now if you are." I've learned that sometimes you have to strike while the iron is hot, so I said, "Yeah, sure. I'm actually free at the moment. Let's go out." I got her number, picked her up, and we went to a pub.
The conversation and escalation went really well, and by the end of the night we were making out. Since I'm trying to put myself out there more, I asked, "So, how much time do you have left?" She told me, "Not much. I have to be home by 23:30. Why?" "To continue drinking, but that's okay. We can leave it for another time." Of course, I was basically seeing whether she'd be open to coming back to my place and letting things develop from there.
I dropped her off at home, we kissed goodbye, and the next day she texted me saying she'd had a wonderful time and hoped to see me again.
This, combined with some of the feedback I've been getting, is a little confusing to me. It's not that I'm specifically trying to have sex on the first date. What I want is to communicate that I'm interested in moving things forward. That's all. If something happens, cool. If it doesn't, that's completely fine too. I'm leaning toward taking more risks, even if it means getting rejected sometimes, rather than just sitting there like a mannequin and never making a move.
What I'm still trying to figure out is whether women might interpret that the wrong way and assume I'm only interested in sex, which isn't the case. Like I said, I mainly want to communicate that I'm attracted to them and willing to take the risk of moving things forward. If she says, "Not yet," but still seems comfortable and interested, that's perfectly fine with me.
Anyway, I'll probably take this girl out again.

Girl 7 (31 YO) — Kiss rejection
Again, I met her on Tinder and asked her out using basically the same approach I described above.
She seemed cute with big boobs, and I was attracted to her.
We went to a museum downtown and then walked through an area with art and antiques. It was actually pretty fun. The conversation flowed nicely. This girl was genuinely funny and managed to make me laugh several times with her teasing and jokes. I started some light physical contact with brief, playful touches on her arm, fingers, shoulder, and back. When we left the museum, she also started touching me here and there.
Part of my plan, because I'm usually the one planning the dates, was to grab a beer afterward at a place I'd been wanting to check out. It was within walking distance, so we headed over there.
At the new place, she initially chose a table that kind of sucked. The music made it difficult for me to hear her, and logistically it was also going to be difficult to create a more intimate vibe because she would be sitting directly across from me. I solved that by asking if we could move to another table. She agreed, and this time I sat next to her.
We ordered a couple of beers and started talking.
At first, she began asking more about what I do. She basically said, "Okay, so what exactly do you do at your job?" I don't particularly enjoy talking about work on dates, but I figured she might have been trying to get to know me better and build some comfort, so I explained what I do and asked her about her job as well. After that somewhat "boring" part of the conversation, I steered things back toward more playful topics, which also gave me opportunities to continue some light touching. My knee, for example, was touching her leg. When she showed me things on her phone, she seemed perfectly comfortable with me standing or sitting close to her. Nothing about her body language suggested that she was uncomfortable.
When I paid the check and we stood up to leave, I pulled her toward me and went for the kiss. She pulled away. I think she said something along the lines of "Wait," although I honestly don't remember exactly what she said. I didn't make a big deal out of it. My reaction was basically, "Okay, no problem." What surprised me was that her body language didn't really change afterward. She didn't do anything that made me think she suddenly felt uncomfortable, and the conversation continued flowing pretty well. We were still joking and talking normally all the way until I dropped her off at her car.
When we said goodbye, we hugged and kissed on the cheek. She told me, "It was really fun. We have to go out again and discover some new places. Please let me know when you get home." I told her, "Yeah, no problem."
While I was walking toward my car, which was parked somewhere else, I took a small detour to see whether there was anyone else around I might be interested (sexually) in talking to. No luck.
Apparently, she drove really ****ing fast, though, because by the time I was paying for my parking, I got a message from her: "Hey, I'm home. What about you? Everything all right?" I answered, "What the hell? Are you Toretto or something? You got home while I was still paying for parking. But yeah, everything's fine. I'm home."
She answered my joke with another joke of her own, lol.
So... about this woman, I don't really know what to think.
This is basically my first time experiencing this particular situation. I have experience with not going for the kiss at all because I chickened out. I have experience going for it and having it go well. And I've had situations where I went for the kiss, got rejected, things immediately became awkward for both of us, and we just let the interaction die afterward.
But this time I got rejected, and everything still seemed to flow normally afterward? I don't have a problem investing more time or money into another date. What I don't want is to fall into a frame where I'm repeatedly inviting her out because I'm trying to somehow "convince" her to eventually let me kiss her and she is the "guardian" of the goods.
What do you think?
Thanks, and have a nice week, y'all.
