No joke, at a previous job my coworkers would call me the human calculator because I'd do the math in my head and tell people the answer before a person who was using a calculator could punch in the numbers.

I have met a lot of grind/book smart people and I have met a few actually high IQ people. You can definitely tell the difference between the two.

Sometimes yes...I often can see code like that in my head as I am working to solve programming issues or doing bug fixes.

I can easily do this and calculate equations in my head, so it just proves my point how irrelevant your IQ score is lol.

Sometimes yes...I often can see code like that in my head as I am working to solve programming issues or doing bug fixes.

I have a shiitty memory. There is the memory palace method to keep more things in my mind but it does not work with me. Did you ever try stuff like that?

Being around those MENSA nutters made me realise of how little importance a 'high' IQ actually is. Having an IQ around 120 plus good social skills will get you much more in life than a 140+ range IQ (which often tends to go with poorer social skills).

Seems like there are sometimes trade offs in the brain where some brain functions are bit weaker.

So you are at MENSA that is awesome. Maybe some members hava a chip on their shoulder and migh be to focused on even getting more smarter so social skills get worse. If they might focus on social skills they may get better at it but may diminish in other areas slightly.

Though when we look at Elon Musk it seems like he knows quite a lot stuff and learns new stuff from different fields very fast. People who know him tell that.

All it means is that you have to work at different things harder than a person with a lower IQ.

I used to get A's in school barely studying or opening a book. Lower IQ people had to study their asses off to get B's or C's sometimes.

I had to work very hard to come out of my introvert shell and learn how to be extroverted when I need to be and be social and learn how to talk with women. That was very difficult for me and I had to work really hard at it. Being in sales was the best thing that happened in that regard...you learn how to interact with people or you don't eat. Forces you to learn and adapt really quick. For some of the other lower IQ people it came easy.

You never have to accept where you are at in life with anything. All this means is that each person will have to work harder at certain things than other things to improve at them, whereas those things come easy for other people.

Now, you may never get to a point where you are as good as someone who it comes naturally to no matter how hard you work at it, but there is no reason you can't greatly improve from where you are at currently.

Lets take golf for example. You might never be a PGA Tour Pro, but if you went out every week and played 4 rounds of golf religiously for a year, you'd notice a huge improvement from where you are now to where you'd be in a year. It's like that with anything in life. If you focus your time and energy on improving in that area, you will improve.

How seriously you take it and how focused you are on doing whatever it takes to improve is usually what separates those who make marked improvement versus those who see little improvement.
