I'd have to see the girl say it to understand the subtext of it. It could mean the girl is calling you a "nice guy," or she's expressing interest in you. Would you give us the circumstance that she said it in, and what her body language was as she was saying it?

If the girl just sat at the table across from you and said that, just nodding her head, not really doing any flirtacious gestures, she's probably not interested in you that way.

Sometimes though, girls leave really subtle hints. That's a pretty good point. SayWord? I'm assuming that the girls respect your diligence in school, but they probably don't see you as a potential romantic partner. This is just me talking out of experience, though. I wouldn't overanalyze this phrase since it doesn't really show interest nor disinterest. It sounds too much like a variation of the dreaded "you're a nice guy, but..." phrase

"You would make a good husband." was going to be followed by "but I am going get every hole I have filled, before i settle down." Or "but you aren't acting like a man so I'll save you till I am through experimenting."

Point is when a girl says crap like that, you aren't totally in the friend zone. Just take it instride and start acting like a man would act. An afc would get excited about it, or take it as an insult. You should take it as a compliment and a sign that there is atleast a little interest.

If you like her you should go for her(romantically/sexually), regardless of wether she thinks you would make a great "husband."
