"Stop Asking Your Friends What to Text Her"

Your buddy Dave has been single for three years and thinks "hey u up" is a valid strategy. Your other buddy Mike just got dumped and told you to "just be yourself."

You showed them her text. You asked them to decode the emoji. You drafted four responses and sent the screenshot to the group chat for a vote.

She's been waiting forty minutes.

Put the phone down. Stop crowdsourcing your love life. Type something that sounds like you. Hit send. Then go do literally anything else with your evening.

wow i never did this before in my life.

i had plans to go hang out with a girl at 4pm. SHe said she could only hang out till 5pm. So, knowing that, I made plans with another girl i really like at 6pm.

basically what happened was the first girl ended up hanging out with me till 730 and i stood the other girl up. i sent her a text at 630 sayin i couldnt make it . she sent me a few more texts that i didnt respond to and one of them said 'how can u do this to me knowing that i like u'

i left her a voicemail saying that i was wit my cousin and she was cryin cuz her bf broke up wit her and i couldnt get out of it.

how do i get out of this?

"I just moved here from Florida."

That sentence contains at least five follow-up questions she WANTS you to ask. Where in Florida? What brought you here? How long have you been in the area? What do you miss? How does it compare to here?

She handed them to you on a silver platter. And you said, "Oh cool. I come here every week. I love this band. Ummm... pretty crowded tonight."

She smiled politely. Nodded. And never texted you back.

I was that guy for years. Talking too much. Listening too little. Panicking about my next sentence while she was literally feeding me the answers.

Then I found 22 rules that fixed the whole thing. Rule number one: shut up and listen. She'll tell you exactly what to say.

You dirty dawg.

You should have excused yourself to meet the other girl, you shouldn't have stood her up, it's very bad form. Make it up to her somehow. Telling lies like that reminds me of my ex gf, so I feel nothing but revulsion for you and i hope you suffer in agony forever.

Kidding.

Make it up to her - do something nice.

Ooo yeah, that was, umm, harsh?

Not a good look at all.

Pull the corny card. Box of chocolates, a cheesy as hell smile, and follow through with your original plans. If she reacts negatively still, take a few steps back and get back into PUA mode.

Whether or not you like it, if you intend to pursue this girl further, you are going to have to take some sort of responsibility for that. But keep a positive spin on what you've done, hence the cheesy smile and chocolates. Just make sure you're constantly rubbing off a positive attitude.

Well done, you managed to boost her interest level. :)

Just ignore it and be nice to her the next time you see her..

"She Wants a Man, Not a Boy"

You asked her if she wanted to grab coffee. Then you asked if the time worked. Then you asked if the place was okay. Then you asked if she'd prefer tea.

Four questions. Four chances for her to say no. Four signals that you're terrified of making a decision.

Plan it. Pick the place. Pick the time. Tell her where to meet you. She'll either show up or she won't.

Either way, you look like a man instead of a scared little boy.

I agree, and have used this one before. Tell her you'll make it up to her, and be sincere about it!
