I used to religiously leave the seat up just to assert my frame, but now I actually always close the lid because I thought of how that toilet water steadily evaporates into the air.

Similar reason here. To me, the inside of a toilet represents the most disgusting part of being human, so I want the regular state to be where it is hidden.

I have always put the lid down, also in public restrooms, I´m used to do it that way.
It´s a neutral ground, but otherwise, given the fact that both men and women sit to ****, I would mind leaving just the seat down. It´s true at least for me that you leave some stains when you pee standing up but I always clean them, even when they are from someone whom I live with, I can´t stand them neiter; sometimes it seems a joke when you hear women telling men to pee sitting down, I even remember one primary school teacher complaining about it.
I don´t understand why toilets don´t have some kind of hole that goes to the pipe that works as a urinal, it´s like they don´t care about male anatomy. When I get my own apartment I´m surely installing a wall urinal.

To be honest, though, I do sit down to pee when I wake up in the middle of the night. Larry David was right about that bit - fvck turning on the light.

funny is you are right, I lower the lid too but jsut because 3 things, prevent from thing to drop in there (small bathrooms like in my office help on that), everytime you flush the water will spill, and vapor of water will go out, with the lid down it prevents most of it, and doing so it neutral she will still need to raise the lid to do anything, also
I never let my toothbrush in the bathroom anymore , I have a save clean place in another place to leave it, i'm sure no roaches and other insects will go.

but serious there was not a country, don't remember if was sueden, was one country in europe, who would pass a law to fine mens who piss standing, and make then all sit to pee, serious no guy hit his penis in the vase when sitting to pee?
