I found one that was kinda depressing, on a YouTube video of all places, but I think it rings true.
It was in a video about LaVar Ball and his wife. They had been married for 30 years, raised 3 sons into the NBA, and he took care of her through a devastating stroke. LaVar is diabetic and had one of his legs amputated last year. His wife has separated and is already dating someone else.
I saw another one about a popular streamer whose girlfriend got cancer. He took care of her, streamed longer to help pay the bills, and even promoted her channel to help her garner a following while she was recovering so she could contribute too. Once she started flourishing, she left him too.
The older I get, the less sure I am that I want to get married. I'd like to raise kids one day, but nearly 50% of marriages fail, and that doesn't include the ones where the couples are unhappy and "endure".
Anyway, the quote:
"My grandma once told me that you can be sure how much you love a woman. But you can never be sure how much she loves you."
