Simple start, simple result:
You spoiled her - irreversible. Next.
You spoiled her - irreversible. Next.
She says the movie looks dumb; you suddenly agree. She tests you with a little attitude; you apologize for nothing.
You think you're being easy to get along with. She reads something else entirely: a man with no edges. Nothing to hold on to. No friction, no tension, no reason to wonder what he really thinks.
The "22 Rules" taught me to push back — playfully, calmly, without needing her approval. Strange things happened after that.
You've replayed it a hundred times. She stood three feet away, scrolling her phone. You had an opening. You composed the perfect line — after she was gone.
For all you know, she's married now. To some guy who said something. Anything.
Openers are cheap. Almost any sentence works when it's delivered within three seconds. The expensive part is the standing there, drafting and deleting, while the window quietly closes.
The "22 Rules" stripped out my hesitation. What to open with, how to keep it alive, and the one habit that costs guys more women than anything else: waiting for perfect.
DonJuanabe said:Been dating this chick for couple months. She complains she has no money yet buys clothes for herself fairly often (at discount), is taking a trip soon that will cost some $2,000, and pays for yoga etc. I don't mind paying more than she does since I know I make more than her, but at this point she needs to start paying something. I'm giving her until the end of the year since she goes on her vacation soon after - if she doesn't fork over something for a movie, or offer to pay the tip at dinner, I'm ending it with her. If this is a you pay for me I give you sex thing I'm done with it. I think my strategy will be, when we go see a movie, to simply suggest she pay for the tix. I'll know my answer immediately.
I don't, I think he's a clown whose fear and loathing of women will cause perpetual celibacy for himself. The Gambler said:Hahahaha.... I LOVE Burroughs..... I hate to admit it. But I do.
Dinner ran three hours. She laughed at everything. You walked her to her car thinking this one's locked in.
Then: nothing. Two texts. No reply. What happened?
You did what most men do on a great date. You filled every silence, answered every question, and left her with nothing to wonder about. No mystery. Nothing to sit with when she got home.
Rule 3 of the "22 Rules" changes the ending: tell her a little, hold back the rest, and let her imagination do the chasing. The ghosting stops too.
The sad part is that this is entirely and realistically possible these days. Anyway I'm over it, the guy's on my ignore list. He doesn't bother me personally, I just hope no young guy actually listens to him. THAT would bother me because it would really short-circuit a young mind.I wouldn't be surprised to see Burroughs in the news after having stormed a few Yoga classes with an AK-47.
Most guys accidentally kill attraction before they even speak. They assume they need a bigger bank account, a better physique, or smoother lines. They miss the point.
Female desire operates on a specific set of psychological triggers. Break them, and you're invisible. Follow them, and you become magnetic.
I learned this the hard way. Years of freezing up. Getting friend-zoned. Watching other guys walk away with the girl I wanted. Then I discovered a set of 22 simple rules that rewired my entire approach.
DonJuanabe said:She isn't high maintenance, and sure 30-40 bucks for dinner or 50 for movie tix and pizza isn't a huge amount of money, and I believe wholeheartedly that since I make more than she does I should pay more than she does, but a woman should pay every once in a while, or pay the tip, or get the tix while you get dinner, something. At the least it says I am contributing too.
I am merely acknowledging reality - it takes time to get to know someone and I've learned that she is selfish. That's not a quality I look for in a woman so unless she changes in the next 2-3 weeks I'm done.
Why are these things linked as if they come in groups where you either get all the things or none of the things?Boilermaker said:I think women are allowed to not pay 1/2 the time.
If we criticize them for defending feminist rights and we are wanting them to be feminine and submissive, and affectionate; we have to give them to right to demand to be taken care of by their men financially.
That sentence contains at least five follow-up questions she WANTS you to ask. Where in Florida? What brought you here? How long have you been in the area? What do you miss? How does it compare to here?
She handed them to you on a silver platter. And you said, "Oh cool. I come here every week. I love this band. Ummm... pretty crowded tonight."
She smiled politely. Nodded. And never texted you back.
I was that guy for years. Talking too much. Listening too little. Panicking about my next sentence while she was literally feeding me the answers.
Then I found 22 rules that fixed the whole thing. Rule number one: shut up and listen. She'll tell you exactly what to say.
I'm guessing that OP paid for everything up front in the beginning to impress the lady.Mauser96 said:Ok, this piqued my interest. Not to hijack the thread, but if this isn't much? Why doesn't she pay 1/2 of the time?
She has money for clothes, boots, vacations for herself. Why not pay her own way on dates, or at least offer to pay?
The AMOUNT being spent has nothjing to do with the fact SHE SPENDS NOTHING AND EXPECTS A FREE RIDE.
Okay, if that's how you feel then you're with an incompatible woman. What are you gonna do?DonJuanabe said:...and I believe wholeheartedly that since I make more than she does I should pay more than she does, but a woman should pay every once in a while, or pay the tip, or get the tix while you get dinner, something. Personally, I don't think she will...I am merely acknowledging reality - it takes time to get to know someone and I've learned that she is selfish. That's not a quality I look for in a woman so unless she changes in the next 2-3 weeks I'm done.
You paid for dinner. You drove. You said "whatever you want is fine" every single time. All the effort, no expectations.
And she left anyway — probably for a guy who makes her pick up the pizza.
Painful. Also predictable. Her mind quietly concludes that anything requiring zero effort from her is worth exactly zero. You became a free sample, and free samples get taken for granted.
The 22 Rules flip the dynamic. Small shifts that get her investing effort, money, and time in you — until SHE'S the one afraid of losing YOU.
