Why "Whatever You Want" Keeps You Single

She says the movie looks dumb; you suddenly agree. She tests you with a little attitude; you apologize for nothing.

You think you're being easy to get along with. She reads something else entirely: a man with no edges. Nothing to hold on to. No friction, no tension, no reason to wonder what he really thinks.

The "22 Rules" taught me to push back — playfully, calmly, without needing her approval. Strange things happened after that.

Anyway to put this brief, i finally asked out this hb7 today cause i
#1 figured she had interest
#2 had dragged this 2 weeks straight w/o asking out
#3 and wanted to see what she would say

before all this i usually tease her and made her laugh. about 2 weeks ago she asked me what i was, i played around the subject then told her chinese. she asked her to make her dimsum, i told her i only eat them, not make them. Then the next class session she asked again when she was gonna get them, i said "we'll see". then onto the next class, she asked again i didnt respond. Well today, i saw she didnt ask me that question, but i did make some witty comments and she appears to still have good interest. As she was blabberring on about how she loved chinese food and going out to eat them at restaurants iwth her sister.

here's the convo in the elevator:
me: hey whatsup, u still want your dim sum?
Up for some this saturday?
her: you're paying for it?
me: sure.
her: i have an internship interview this saturday.
then she was blaberring about something with washing the dishes and chopsticks or some ****.
( here i am thinking wtf, my only intention was to go out and eat, since i cant cook for ****)

1st floor! then we exit and we say bye. Since i have minimal interest in her, her answer doesnt bother me. I wouldnt blame her as next week is the last week of classes and finals/papers are due.

But i would like to know what happened here...

"She's Out of Your League"

You've said it a hundred times. Maybe a thousand. And every time you say it, you train your brain to freeze the next time she walks into the room.

Leagues are a myth invented by guys who are scared of women.

She's a person. She has bad breath in the morning. She picks songs she can't sing in the shower. She overthinks her own texts.

Walk over. Say something. The league dissolves the second you open your mouth.

When she said that you should pay for it. I would've called her cheap and tease her about it.

"Stop Asking Your Friends What to Text Her"

Your buddy Dave has been single for three years and thinks "hey u up" is a valid strategy. Your other buddy Mike just got dumped and told you to "just be yourself."

You showed them her text. You asked them to decode the emoji. You drafted four responses and sent the screenshot to the group chat for a vote.

She's been waiting forty minutes.

Put the phone down. Stop crowdsourcing your love life. Type something that sounds like you. Hit send. Then go do literally anything else with your evening.

There's two things that may have happened here.

1) Red Flag. She immediately asks you if YOU'RE paying for it. She's not interested in you, she's interested in your money.

2) 5hit Test. She was interested in going for some dim sum until you failed the 5hit test. "You're paying for it" was a test to see if you're like all the other chumps trying to get to her with your wallet. Like a sucker, you gave in and failed the 5hit test.

I'd think that #2 is what happened since she was willing on Saturday, but after you showed her you're like any other guy, she backed out.
