I am 5'10, 165lbs but would like to add 5-10lbs of muscle. Just wondering if whey powder would help?

Should I mix it with water or milk? Should I only have a shake after a workout?

Whey powder isn't magic powder, however it will help your muscles recover after working out.

You can take it with either water or milk; I prefer milk
You can take it before workout. You can take it in the morning You SHOULD take it after workout.
It all depends on your current diet and protein intake.
