I don't agree with people comparing marriage to prostitution. I know this is de riguer with the PUA circle, but it's not a fair comparison. The purpose of marriage has always been to create a family. The purpose of prostitution is to blow your load. How is that a comparison?

Prostitution and girlfriends and marriages have different purposes and different emotional magnitudes but there is still an exchange in the sexual economy. Payment of sex in prostitution is front-end loaded, relationships and marriages are back-end loaded. Even "free" sex is often not free when opportunity costs are factored. I have yet to be able to semantically separate marriage from prostitution under the classical legal definition of "the act or practice of being available for sex acts with another person in return for something of value."

What happens, IN HER MIND, is that she comes to see you as WORTHLESS simply because she hasn't had to INVEST anything in you in order to get you or to keep you.

You were an interesting diversion while she had nothing else to do. But now that someone a little more valuable has come along, someone who expects her to treat him very well, she'll have no problem at all dropping you or demoting you to lowly "friendship" status.

Under that definition, players are also johns.

Players provide something of value to the girl (fun) in exchange for the girl being available for a sex act.
