What video games are you guys playing these days?

It’s a traditional turn-based JRPG with nice graphics, but without all the bells and whistles. Think FFIX or Shin Megami Tensei V, but in 2D. There’s also a lot of grinding.

I like these games since I have been playing them since forever. I heard Octopath Traveler 0 is better though since it is more modern but I haven’t played it since I am not willing to spend 80 hours on a game right now.

That’s the thing.. idk if I have the patience for the grinding these days

My woman wanted to play Little Nightmares 3. She supposedly hates scary movies and scary stuff but I guess Little Nightmares is more like a genre called "Cozy Horror" or something like that and she actually digs that.

Anyways, we played on Steam Deck. Co-op was a welcome addition compared to the previous games. The ending stuck with me for a while but most importantly it was lots and lots of mindless fun.

For Christmas, one of my girls got me Luigi’s Mansion 3, and one of my employees got me the Mario + Rabbids: Kingdom Battle / Sparks of Hope bundle.

I started with Luigi’s Mansion 3, and in two months, I’ve only played 15 hours. The game feels slow and sluggish, the levels are unimpressive, and the puzzles aren’t interesting. I’m currently on level 13 out of 15, and I’m thinking about dropping it even though I usually like to 100% all my games.

It’s honestly made me lose interest in gaming altogether.

I have to agree with the rest of the retro gamers here. I can't count the number of times I've gone back to starcraft, dark forces, commander keen (Hell, ANY Apogee or 3D Realms/ID Software) halloween harry, duke nukem.

It takes one refreshing game to bring you back. Maybe an Indie game. Have you tried Octopath Traveller, Hollow Knight, Hades, Balatro, The Messenger, Sea of Stars, Stardew Valley, or A Short Hike?

Hades is on my list too. I wasn’t sure about Octopath Traveler, I heard reception was mixed?

I was finally able to finish it with its best ending. I’m kind of glad I pushed through, since I hate leaving things unfinished. What helped was that I’ve been sick since Saturday, so I was able to take my time and complete it. It took me three months to play 20 hours, so that shows how much I struggled with and disliked it.

I've been playing Arc Raiders as well ^

Legitimately ran out of things to do though. Hoping the next couple of big updates will make the game feel exciting again. The new map next month looks like it could be cool.

Yeah...the gameplay is amazing, and it runs buttery smooth...but aside from the broken Trials system, there really isn't an "endgame" that keeps me interested.

I've done all the missions, completed the expedition both times, reached Cantina Legend last season, and the only achievement I don't have is for getting the killing blow on the Queen.

2026 has been kind of hard for me to find the time to play games with my current hours at work. Recently I had some vacation days.

Took my woman on a roadtrip for a few days to the good ol United States. We did some shopping and ate at restaurant chains not available in my hometown. We visited a Bucees for the first time, that was cool.

Anyways, After we got back I still had some days off. I chose to play Resident Evil Requiem. Its great, at least an 8 out of 10

Hopefully the next 3d Mario releases next year. I started Dk Bonanza in 2025 and still havent finished. So many games, so little time

Yeah hopefully, love to play them together with my niece and nephew and sometimes have a good laugh about it.

Took a quick look about the previous 3d Mario release dates and they were either released on September or October and only one on February. Good chance they might release it on those months and maybe even this year, hopefully so.

Star Wars: Republic Commando

This First Person Shooter was released in 2005 but I didnt get around to it back then. An enchanced port was released for Ps4 and Nintendo Switch in 2021. Played it on Ps4, looks like it has aged gracefully.

No micro transactions, no endless updates, no battle passes. Juts a very "video game" like video game. I would give this at least an 8 out of 10. Definetely recommended if you are a fan of Star Wars or First Person Shooters.

I've been seeing a lot of N64 retro gaming adds on my Social media feed lately.....lots of Goldeneye flashbacks on some level especially The Facility. While Many say Goldeneye was the best multiplayer on N64 ever, I'd have to disagree, I'd have to go with Perfect Dark on that one.
