I think about this from time to time. How much better is your life really than a hunter gatherer? Lets say your commute is pretty good so 30x2 minutes, 8 hours work, 1 hour unpaid lunch to do your powerwalk cardio on, 1 hour strength training, 9 hours sleep + 30 minutes falling asleep, at least 1 hour for making and eating food, hygiene, preparing for work, errands. Thats at least 21:30 hours a day maintaining your existence. What do you do on your spare time? kids, wife, friends, activities, chilling. All stuff a hunter gatherer does too. And with reduced population densities because of no agriculture, and no lifestock, you dont have as much disease as youd think. The improved lifestyles also eliminate a lot of disease and HGs have way better mental health too. You have medicinal plants. You automatically have a community.
The only really worse things i can think of are worse birth control, pregnancy complications, more parasites (nematodes, mosquites, lice, fleas, parasitic flies), and less available anesthetics. Other than that what exactly makes our lives so much better?
