she is not comfortable hanging out with you alone. Work on attraction and comfort make these issues your focus. Come up with some ideas on things you could do alone. Don't go hang out with her friends you don't want to become a part of your world you want her to become a part of your world. Without you giving attraction and comfort for HER to feel about YOU, she won't regard you as man enough. Thats just my 2 cents though.

I met her in University. We've known each other for a few years now. We keep in touch but we don't hang out that much except for a few times a year at these group party things. We know each other fairly well.
Just because a woman listens to you and acts interested in what you say doesn't mean she really is. She might just be acting polite, while silently wishing that the date would hurry up and end, or that you would go away... and never come back.

Midnight's post is mind boggling to me, but I'm going to guess that if you make yourself attractive and make her feel comfortable she will see you in a different light.
That kind of talk is what Millions of Nice Guys do all the time. They dress nice, talk nice, and able to provide all the worldly effects of a boyfriend without the sex.
The truth is however, she may either see you as a friend, uncomfortable being alone with you (if a girl is really interested in you, she'd try to spend as much time with you one on one.) , or other ulterior motives which do not parallel themselves with her "wanting to be your girlfriend."
