"The Kiss of Death Mistake"

You replay the conversation at 2 a.m. She texted back fast yesterday. Today, nothing. Was that smile friendly or flirty? What did the shoulder touch mean?

Every hour you spend decoding her signals drains your confidence and hands her the controls. Women can sense that insecurity from across the room — and it repels them.

One of the "22 Rules" kills the obsession on the spot: assume she likes you, and act accordingly. Sounds too simple. Works anyway.

Her interest tends to rise to meet your expectations. Psychologists call it a self-fulfilling prophecy.

4:10pm Last Monday

I was going to the video shop I had to return some DVD’s every Thursday I get some DVD’s and every Monday I return them I kind of get in to routines and find them hard to break. So I walk into the video shop and there’s the HB8.5 working I always talk to her for a bit, very nice girl she’s Turkish she has that whole virgin look going but as we all know looks can be deceiving:

Me: Hey watsup?
HB8.5: nothing much typical Monday you know? (kind of a sad look to emphasize her boredom)
Me: Oh come on you work in a Video shop your surrounded my thousands of great movies and your bored?
HB8.5: There’s no couch or popcorn
Me: Has anyone ever told you, you complain a lot?
HB8.5: Shutupppppp

(We talked a little longer and then I left)

After I left I thought when she said the popcorn thing I could have said “well I’ll tell you what, Thursday night I’ll take you out to a movie and if you’re nice I’ll buy you some popcorn” (I don’t usually buy girls things but this type of girl I judged it ok) but I didn’t say it so I had to think of something else………

4:10pm Today

I walk back into the video shop and she’s working I’m dropping of some DVD’s again but this time I came in with a bag of popcorn. You can buy popcorn in these plastic bags it’s not hot but anyway:

HB8.5: Heyyyyyy how are you?
Me: Im great how about you? Wait wait let me guess your bored?
HB8.5: Wow how did you guess? (that wasn’t really a question)
Me: No couch and no popcorn
HB8.5: (giggles) you remember
Me: Yeh I do, ey guess what?
HB8.5: What?
Me: I’m going to unborden you now
HB8.5: (slight smile) How you going to do that?
Me: (pull out the bag of popcorn from behind the counter) I couldn’t do much about the couch but here’s the popcorn
HB8.5: (she starts laughing and laughing)
Me: Now pick any movie in the store, watch it and eat your popcorn
HB8.5: (still laughing) OMG thank you (laughing)
Me: And Thursday night I’ll take you out to see a movie and you can sit on a comfy chair

When she finally stopped laughing she agreed to go out, we traded numbers and I got a kiss goodbye on the cheek.

When we go out Thursday I’m going to make her buy me popcorn I’ll say “you have to buy me popcorn to return the favor” or something like that.

Yeh that’s my unexpected pickup of the day.

"She Laughed All Night. Then She Ghosted You. Here's Why."

Dinner ran three hours. She laughed at everything. You walked her to her car thinking this one's locked in.

Then: nothing. Two texts. No reply. What happened?

You did what most men do on a great date. You filled every silence, answered every question, and left her with nothing to wonder about. No mystery. Nothing to sit with when she got home.

Rule 3 of the "22 Rules" changes the ending: tell her a little, hold back the rest, and let her imagination do the chasing. The ghosting stops too.

How refreshing and pleasant. That's about as natural it comes.

Of course it's contingent upon long term captive audience (regular liasing in rental store). A lot can be done with a fostering environment like that, but not everyone has such opportunities.

"The Coffee Shop Girl You Never Spoke To"

You've replayed it a hundred times. She stood three feet away, scrolling her phone. You had an opening. You composed the perfect line — after she was gone.

For all you know, she's married now. To some guy who said something. Anything.

Openers are cheap. Almost any sentence works when it's delivered within three seconds. The expensive part is the standing there, drafting and deleting, while the window quietly closes.

The "22 Rules" stripped out my hesitation. What to open with, how to keep it alive, and the one habit that costs guys more women than anything else: waiting for perfect.
